Draft Pick Nightmare
Which potential 1st round pick do you absolutely not want?
And first round within reason. Meaning players who are reasonably expected to likely be 1st round picks. I'll start. My nightmare pick would be Ryan Mallett. Yes, he's got the arm strength, but that's about it.

Re: Draft Pick Nightmare
Hmmmmmm. Personally I can see myself getting on board with any of our potential first round picks. The only one that I think would be a terrible fit would be Fairly as a 3-4 end or God forbid, a Nose tackle. Still most of the people we're looking at bring something to the table.
On the other hand, the top corners Peterson and Prince, while certainly destined to be pro bowl caliber players, would only serve as overkill in our secondary. I feel though that most peoples nightmare pick will be the guy we actually take, Jake Locker. Julio Jones will be a close second.

Re: Draft Pick Nightmare
I hate to say it but Julio Jones...he is my nightmare pick. I think he is a good player but history is hitting me in the face. Rod Gardner, Westbrook, Desmond Howard picks that involve the skills positions we just don't project very well in our system. I know! I know! We have different people in charge but I am with the crowd and want to think we need to build the heart of the team "in the trenches" is were we need to concentrate to stay good for more than a year or two as the last decade has dictated!
There are players like the two top QB's that I am afraid of taking, but I don't think they will be there when we pick. Best case we trade down....harder than it sounds as we need a partner...and gain a top 100 player pick. Our roster is weak top to bottom...get good talent and start trimming the fat...Albert that is. It looks as our front office realize this. Portis, Albert, McNabb, possible Moss, Macantosh, Rodgers good players we value way to much and are on the line for too much money at this point....Rebuild so my kids can see the Skins win some playoff games!!! Luckily my kids are young! so Skins you have a couple of years to get things right. Don't F*#K it up! |

Re: Draft Pick Nightmare
Mark Ingram would be a really horrendous pick at no. 10.
Probably no one worse than Jake Locker though. Julio Jones is a second round type to me. Not the worst pick in the world at 10...but we need better. Locker it is. Boring choice, but necessary.

Re: Draft Pick Nightmare
Newton or Locker. Bowers would not be a "nightmare" but would have me concerned.

Tremendous hurdle for Quinn to overcome. He's a very fortunate young man.

Re: Draft Pick Nightmare
So for those of you who say Locker. Is the nightmare drafting him or drafting him in the 1st round?
Suppose we took him at #41 overall? Ok with that?

Our main objective should be trading out and aquiring picks at this point. I think its a nightmare with the talent in this draft to reach.

Re: Draft Pick Nightmare
At 41 he's much less of a nightmare. Still, I have tried visualizing him in the b&g. In my mind's eye he throws and amazing td pass followed by an off-target interception that costs us the game. His boom/bust prospects scare me in any round.

Re: Draft Pick Nightmare
Bad pick at 41. Better, obviously, than at 10 because it's so easy to draft a QB in the first round next year and have two guys coach likes, but there will almost certainly be better passers available at 41.
If he's the 8th or 9th QB taken, and we end up with him, I retract my criticism. I would rather have Locker than absolutely no one to give playing time to when the season becomes lost, like it did in 2010.

Re: Draft Pick Nightmare
I would like Newton at 41 if for some reason he free-fell. Newton is a bad pick in the first round (where he's almost certain to get taken), but I could at least see the sunny day scenario where everything goes perfect in Newton's development and he ends up better than a bunch of people I had rated ahead of him.
