Washington Redskins: How Daniel Snyder found his man in Mike Shanahan

And how Clinton Portis was a selfish little bastard. I take back calling him a guy who gave about 85-90% to the team. He gave about 70% or less.

Clinton Portis is a piece of shit, and I hope he never plays another down in the NFL. So glad that asshole is off this team and never broke Riggins record. It's a shame a good man like Zorn got shit on by our front office. Sure he was over his head, but they didn't help him much.

I also want to comment on our owner making decisions for a billion dollar franchise while liquored up. No wonder all his other business ventures flop.

Thanks for posting this SCP.

Re: Washington Redskins: How Daniel Snyder found his man in Mike Shanahan

I want to add, that after reading this, it answered the lingering question of why did this idiot (Zorn) run the swinging gate after the defense called a time out and prepared themselves.

It was his way of giving Dan Snyder a big fat finger (on national TV at that) while he was headed out the door. He knew he was fired.

Now that I look back on it, I applaud Zorn for that move. Snyder deserved to see that shit and be embarrassed.

Dude, all this confirms is that Portis is a piece of crap, and DS is the biggest POS ever ... I don't give a crap how bad of a coach Zorn was. You can't cut a guys knees out from under him and then expect him to lead a team.

Agreed, it also makes Shanny seem like Danny's booty call. So there's that...

Re: Washington Redskins: How Daniel Snyder found his man in Mike Shanahan

Great article.

NC Skins would you really still want Zorn coaching this football team now? DS made a move and more importantly has stuck to his guns and stayed out of the way. I applaud the guy for it. The fact he made the flight to Denver after getting liquored up in an airport hanger with his private jet sitting outside, I find pretty damn baller! LOL... what a f'n story to tell the grandkids... As far as him failing in his business ventures, failure is part of life in business and he has had plenty of successes. Including turning our franchise into a 1.7 billion dollar team. He also had the business where with all to make the money to buy the franchise. The guy may have made a ton of mistakes running the Redskins in the past, but he finally got the hell out of the way and turned it over to a group of guys to lead us back to being contenders again. I applaud the guy for owning his mistakes and backing off to let football guys do their thing.

HAIL! We are back baby. We are back... We are getting Doug back!

Hell no. I didn't think Zorn was right for the job even back then. Going from a QB coach to HC without being a coordinator? That had "TRAP" written all over it, and I even admitted as much by saying he was in way over his head. It's like trying to learn how to swim by jumping in the deepest part of the pool. Often not a good idea.

I applaud DS for doing exactly what I've wanted him to do all along. Hire capable minds, and get the hell out of the way.

Exactly what we have all been saying for years!!

I just don't get the hire in the first place. We all wanted to believe as fans that we would catch some kind of lightening in a bottle, but it was all just a pipe dream. The odds on that happening where about the same as winning the powerball jackpot when you factor in the Redskins organizational culture. At that time the inmates were running the asylum so to speak, not our coaches. Add in the fact that Zorn was never really ever to get the players to believe in him or his system, it was a recipe for disaster. I do not believe DS made the hire with the hope of him failing, because as we all know DS wants to win, he was just flat out wrong in his approach.

It wasn't even that, it was the fact that Dumb (Snyder) and Dumber (Ceratto) thought it would be smart to go out and hire a offensive and defensive coordinator without hiring a head coach. Now, whoever you get, is going to have to accept those two coordinators. Now tell me, what coach on earth is going to take a HC position without being able to choose his own staff? A desperate one....like Zorn. They painted themselves into a corner and had no way out except for the gullible Zorn.
