Cousins Value Skyrockets,Jets Fans Want Him!!
After Mark Sanchez's season ending meltdown last night against the Titans, Jets fans have given up on him and wants management to pursue Kirk Cousins! Some quotes from the forum http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread
Woody's Reaction tonight - TheGangGreen.com Message Board The_Fan "Can the Jets go after Kirk Cousins from the Redskins for a QB? He might be worth looking at " Poeman 1968jetsfan "When you have a QB that runs alot you need a good backup behind him because he's going to miss at least portions of games due to injury. No way they trade an effective and cheap backup to RGIII. " soxxx "No but you dont draft a Qb in the 4th roud, if you drafted one in the first either. I honestly felt o draft night, that shanahan wanted kirk more than rg3. Its kinda wierd," wildaces "Revis and Sanchez for Cousins? I know people on here live and breath Revis, but could you package Sanchez and get rid of him? an A and a D Makes a C+, and that is right about what Cousins is?" What do you think? |

LOL! Sorry, but I think the Redskins keep Kirk Cousins around unless someone offers them such a huge deal that we can't pass it up.

Re: Cousins Value Skyrockets,Jets Fans Want Him!!
Draft Picks is the only thing I'd trade Cousins for. (well not the ONLY thing).. But either way, I'd try to keep him around til at least the year before his contract is up unless something really good came along. Still will be missing the draft picks for Rg3, so if we could recoup something there I'd be for it.
I mean I love Cousins, but if you get an offer which can help you get a guy who will play 16 games, I think you have to take it.

Anything less than a solid 1st round pick and Cousins stays put.

agree. its not worth talking about. need to develop a reliable back up especially with RG3's style of play.

Any trade talk on Cousins before 2014 is pretty crazy.. Why mess with quality QB depth until you absolutely have to? Hopefully Cousins won't be needed in game action between now and then (meaning RGIII stays healthy) other than pre-season and mop up duty and we can flip Cousins into a 1st or 2nd round pick in the 2014 draft.

Anyway, RGIII will continue to take hits frequently for the forseeable future. Because of that, we NEED a good backup quarterback who can do what Cousins did vs. the Browns. Cousins is more valuable to us than a 2nd round pick, which is the most anyone would give us for him now (and i dont think we could get that. Id rather just hold on to him, draft another young QB, and then trade Cousins next year if that guy develops. Cousins value will only go up when he plays more games for an injured RGIII. I'd also be happy just to hold on to cousins until his contract is up, let him sign somewhere, and then get a 3rd round compensatory pick when he gets starter money somewhere. Now if someone offered us a first - theyd be crazy - but we'd be crazy not to take it.

I've long been an advocate that we need two young QBs...so I'm not about this let's trade Kirk life

![]() BHA he's rushed for 750 yards and been very effective. The option and his scramble ability has helped us win games. He is gonna take hits in the open field, its a fact. We need a developing QB who can be ready to take the field and deliever.

Generally, he drops back to throw and runs because protection breaks down before a receiver gets open. As i said, he takes hits in the open field instead of taking sacks, which is what would happen with someone like rex behind center. but he'd be taking the same number of big hits. RGIIIs "style of play" is not more likely to get him injured than if he were a pure drop back passer. That was my point. Its the o-line thats responsible for RGIII taking hits. If they did their job well, RGIII wouldnt have to run and he could stay back and throw. He'd have something like 500 less running yards and 750-1000 more passing yards. Regardless, until we can fix the o-line, we need Kirk Cousins. He's under contract 2 more years and i'd be shocked if he left before then unless we got a ridiculous offer.
