Time to trade Ramsey

Let's face it: We're not likely a playoff team this next year. If Ramsey has a terrible year, we won't resign him. If Ramsey has a terrific year, he's gonna want money we may not be able to afford. Plus after getting dicked around like he has, he may not want to stay here for any kind of money.

It's obvious he's not Gibbs favorite guy and the best thing to do now is get value for the kid while we can. I hate the idea of Brunell starting for a year, but even more I hate the idea of Ramsey leaving at the end of next year for nothing when we should be able to get a MINIMUM of a second round pick for him now. Hell... package him up with Rod Gardener and trade them both for a first rounder next year. Or ship them both to Detroit for one of their WR, since they seem to have an abundance of them now. Get Mike Williams. Have an open competition for QB this year. Maybe Campbell beats out Brunell. But trade Ramsey now (as much as I like him) to get any kind of value out of it we can. It's gonna be much harder to build on nothing when he leaves after the end of next year.

Re: Time to trade Ramsey

Let's not get too crazy here, Gibbs isn't going to start a rookie, and he's not going to trade Ramsey away leaving him with one vet and a rookie.

Re: Time to trade Ramsey

I think that drafting Campbell shows that Gibbs is finished with Brunnel not Ramsey. I think that Campbell has the mobility the Ramsey does not have and we live in a world where 2 good QB's on the roster is a must. If Ramsey does great next year, we could always lock him up on a long term contract and trade Campbell for picks in the next draft. If Ramsey bombs, or walks, or gets hurt, we have a better option than Brunnel to step in.

Also, Gibbs wont start a rookie. Even if Campbell was drafted as the new QB, I don't think Gibbs would start him for three years. Gibbs is just too conservative like that.

I'm not sold on the move, but as far a receivers go, Gardner looked pretty good coming out of college and look what happened. I think we have four number 2 receivers instead of a 1 2 3 and 4. We will have to see how that works out (it has worked well in NE).

Hate to break it to you but Campbell is a slow poke. He runs 4.69 in the 40 which by definition makes him a pocket passer. While Ramsey improved last year, I'd still take Campbell over him in scrambling.

Are you nuts? Det isn't going to give us Williams for Ramsey and Gardener. The way the Skins front office trades we might get a 5th round and a stick of gum for both of them.

Re: Time to trade Ramsey

UM no way, why are you sooooo ready to send away a guy that we drafted and are in the middle of developing as our starter this year? Ramsey may not be our guy, but atleast give the guy a chance. This is football, this is reality, I know what Ramsey has been through sucks, but look at Tom Brady, who would have thought he would have been drafted in the 6th round and become what he has. I wonder what would have happened to him if you were coaching. I am hoping like the rest of the fans that the Redskins know what they are doing.

Re: Time to trade Ramsey

If anything it will give Ramsey a shot in the arm like Brees last year.

Jon Jansen said everyone was very upset but after Joe sat them all down it made a lot of sense to them.

Re: Time to trade Ramsey

He makes a good point. It may be hard to re-sign Mr. Ramsey. Am I the only one thinking that we may be planning on trading Ramsey and having Brunel be the starter? not that I LIKE this scenario, but I could see it happening.

This is the scenerio that I'm worried about. If it did happen, it would happen today and we would trade for draft picks or somthing. I pray this is not the case and were just blowing this up...but its somthing to think about.

Think they'd give up Rogers? They'd rather have a #3 guy who will actually be there.

Re: Time to trade Ramsey

Ramsey would be a restricted FA? In either case, this is the year to show and prove. His NFL career depends on it.

Oh I agree with the overall theory of BigRed. I cant see anyway in which Ramsey stays.

Re: Time to trade Ramsey

If Ramsey does well, it doesn't matter how difficult it will be because the Skins will only make a half ass effort like they did with Smoot and Pierce. If he does well he'll be gone. How could they justify giving him big money when they invested a first round pick in Campbell. Everyone points to San Diego. Ultimately, their man is Rivers. That's why he's signed long term and Brees isn't. I think much the same could happen with the Skins.

Best case scenario: Ramsey plays well, they franchise him and get back into the first round next year.

Re: Time to trade Ramsey

Maybe we could trade Ramsey and all of next year's draft picks to Denver for Plummer.

Re: Time to trade Ramsey

LMFAO yeah, lets take and throw a redshirt rookie out in the mix and get his confidence shattered so we can be in the same boat we are now in a few years.
Pierce and Smoot aren't worth the money the wanted, or got, and we'll see that very soon. They're pissed because the organization that pays through the ass for half-assed players is trying to move in another direction, but fuckem. If Ramsey pulls his head out of his ass and makes contributes... They'll pay him more money than they wouldve paid Brunell, which is probably more than he'll deserve, unless he turns into a pro-bowler next year.
