Why not? Who cares.
More hard hitting analysis by Sally. Sponsored by Mike Shanahan. |

If RGIII can't comfortably navigate a three-step drop in August, it won't matter what was said in February.

Yet once again everyone in the media is forgetting Scot McC's comments about RG3 (not giving up on him) and maybe that has influenced this decision. But I guess this sort of stuff doesn't sell papers.

Re: Why name RG3 the starter this soon?
Regardless of what is what, we have to not only hope but expect that Griffin III will be much improved. But if Daniel Snyder is still stirring the pot then he needs to just stop. It's getting old and it's getting tired. Maybe Snyder didn't have his hand in Gruden's announcement at all. Maybe Gruden is giving RG3 enough rope to hang himself with in the case that he doesn't improve. In case RG3 doesn't make the most out of this last opportunity the Redskins should move on from him or make him a wide receiver.

Re: Why name RG3 the starter this soon?
Look at it this way RGIII as always said he wanted a Coach who had his back. MS said he didn't want RGIII he wanted Payton can't blame him but he settled for RGIII. JG came in 2nd week RGIII got hurt JG said I'm rolling with KC. JG was brought in to get RGIII going and the Offense moving neither happened with consistency. There trying to do the I thing they should of done from the beginning have his back or at least let it appear that way. HTTR.

Re: Why name RG3 the starter this soon?
My honest guess is because Dan Snyder probably told Gruden that if he wanted to be guaranteed one more year as HC, then he had best play RG3 no matter what.
Sure Gruden can play whoever he wants in "theory" but all that would end up bringing him is a public / national firing. With RG3 this is probably a 3 or 4 win team. With some other QB and the same ownership / management - we are probably a 5 or 6 win team. Nothing is going to change any time soon until Snyder and company are gone.

Doubt threatening to fire him would work any better than it did on Mike Shanahan. So... guess it's time to start blaming Gruden for everything now! Agreed that until Snyder is gone, looks bad. Hoping McCloughan can make a miracle happen. |

Re: Why name RG3 the starter this soon?
What does a guaranteed contract mean when you are redskins HC? If we've learned anything from the Shanahan situation, it's that Dan will fire you full well knowing he is paying you to watch from home for however long your contract is.
No, everything is not Gruden's fault. But it seems awfully fishy that Gruden has did a total 180 on his opinion of RG3 just a few months ago...

Everyone gets all butt hurt about Sally Jenkins. She likes ripping the Redskins, but nothing in her article isn't truthful. Everything in there is spot on.
