Trading Patrick Ramsey

I read on Fox Sports that the Skins are considering trading Ramsey for John Abraham once the season ends. I don't know that much about Abraham. Would this be a good deal for the Skins?

The Jets would be pretty dumb to make that move straight up.

I think desperate is closer to the truth. Chad Pennington is good, but he's going to be walking with a cane soon. He's as frail as an old lady. I'm sure many coaches have seen game film of the pounding that Ramsey took on a regular basis, but continued to get up and play. Herm Edwards is one of those coaches that believes in supporting his players, almost to a fault, and he probably thinks Ramsey could perform well, given the opportunity. Coles might be dropping hints to him also, since he was Ramseys' favorite target.

If Ramsey could develop into a solid, mid tier QB(Marc Bulger, Matt Hasselbeck, etc.), he would be far more valuable to the Jets than even a stud defensive end like Abraham.

Everyone forgets Abraham sitting out the playoffs last season because he said he didn't want to jeopordize his upcoming contract, sounds like a real Gibbs type player, teams just may have a more favorable opinion of Ramsey than we do.

Thank You. I couldnt agree more. Everyday Gibbs talks about how proud he is of guys playing injured and these are regular season games. Abraham sat out in the playoffs when his coaches thought he was ready to play. Even TO wasnt that selfish. Abraham is not a Joe Gibbs kinda player so theres no doubt that he wont be traded for Ramsey. Remember the Jets called the skins early in the season looking for a trade. Im sure Abraham was on the table then and joe gibbs didnt bite and Im sure he wont change his mind anytime soon.

Re: trading p ramsey

i agree, trading p ram (which to us is about nothing since hes a backup QB who has no future with us), for a guy like Abraham who is only 27, and a pro bowl caliber PASS RUSHING DE, this would be a great straight up trade

Re: trading p ramsey

I would definately make that trade. Abraham is still young and has some years in him. Plus we are grooming Campbell for the future and having Ramsey would only hurt that progression. If the Jets go straight up, then that is one hell of deal. An unproven QB for a proven DE with good pass rushing skills. Jets would actually end up with the short end of that stick, but I will take it. I like Ramsey and hate to see him go, but its clear Gibbs doesn't think he can do the job. Plus Daniels seems to be hurt alot. He would probably be more productive and stay fresh if he was in a rotation. He could even play some DT, which he is big enough to do now.

Re: Trading Patrick Ramsey

from what i've heard chad pennington is just about shot, his arm strength is very poor and they really do need a young starter, plus they like ramsey. it would be a great trade for us though, J.A. is a stud and would fit perfect with our system.

Pennington never had a strong arm and I can't imagine it is going to gte any better. This guy could be agreat NFL qb but injuries will most likely force him out fo the league in the 4 or 5 years I would guess. Ramsye might be an answer there but they can't trade a guy when he is already going to be a FA can they? Unless they franchise him he is not on their team after the season is over. We'd be silly to trade for him when we could sign him as a FA . They aren't going to franchise him since he'd go ballistic.

Link? I also doubt the Jets make that move--would be good for us, especially as Campbell develops. We'll see... we're only at week 9 yet.
