Dude, that's why I said "I look forward to it"... meaning...I think he can and WILL be a gamebreaker. He has gamebreaker talent and you can't hold that down for long.

Unless you're Michael Westbrook.

i love coach gibbs to death but may he be c portis worst enemy? its almost like there is too much structure in the running game.thats great for people like riggo, who can put their head down and run north and south.but clintons ability to cut back and find small creases, maybe not so good.

We Still Were Able To Punch It In On The Ground.and I Do Think Your Right Bigskinsbauer About The Offense As A Whole, But Come On Portis We Want Some Tds.NOW
His first tenure we were getting in the red zone alot more I would think. Defenses were totally different with caliber players, schemes, run blitzes they are stacking the box against Portis and that is why those passes to Royal, Cooley, and Sellers in the flat are open in the flat they commit to the middle and get beat outside. Portis will come as other teams game plan to beat the skins and not Portis and the running game. Portis said it best 4-0 is better than his stats and that is a good attitude instead of TO screaming because he only gets 1 or 2 balls thrown to him. No back could be doing any better with the piles Clinton has been running into and solid enough to open up our passing game more. He has had 1 100 yard rushing game and totaled over 100 last week with rushing and passing. I would say solid especially as much as him and Betts are rotating out to keep our running game fresh. If Clinto kept those rushes he would have 3 100 yard games, but they not the coaches are setting up the rotation pretty much and really team oriented and not selfish.

Re: Portis

Portis can not run the ball because we are gettin 8-9 men fronts. Besides the two deep balls to Moss and "the boys" we haven't made teams pay for it. Once we start making plays 20 to 30 yards down the field and make people respect our deep passing game, thats what we are going to see. I would like to see Cooley more involved in the passing game. I like his match up against safeties and LBs. this would also give Portis some room. Also, do we not know what sweep or screen is. Portis needs the ball in space, that is his strength. But, you have to give portis credit. He added about 20lbs of muscle this offseason and is sticking it right up the gut and between the tackles. I dont think we will be able to stretch the field this week, unless its Patten, but look for alot of the against KC. This week is going to be pound the ball, roll outs for 10 or 15 yard, workman like moving the ball and GREAT DEFENSE!!.

Re: Portis

As our passing game continues to improve, our running game will get even better. When Portis gets any sort of a whole he always get 6-10 yards.

Portis also leaves the game a lot and gives betts playing time. The one two punch will be even better when they have to respect our passing game.

Re: Portis

What we need is for another WR to step up their game if its Patten ,Trash, or Jacobs. Right now we have only one deep threat and we need two. This will open up the field and in turn open up the running game. Brunell did a good job last week of getting big plays when the Seas stacked the line and if we can keep that up teams will have to respect our passing game. Thats why we converted so many 3rd downs they were stacking the line.

What about Joe Washington and Earnest Byner?? They were similiar to Portis in running style and they did pretty good.

Maybe not experts, but close!! Hey man, I'm just using my "hope" tool trying to will Portis a big game this weekend. I think he has to have a big game for us to win on sunday. Either him and/or Ladell.

Re: Portis

We need to in a bad way assert a strong running game. This team needs to find an identity that will confuse all who plays them. We can not rely on last minute plays to save our butts. We are starting to get those sustained drives that we are used to seeing from J. Gibbs football team. Only then will this team find true balance on offense. That will open up a variety of offensive solutions. We have a tuff schedule and the only way you can know that you are a good team is beat good teams. Fear none, but respect all.

Re: Portis

i don't think we will have a big game for portis against denver, because denver has a great defense that is awesome against the run (see Taylor, Fred, 11 carries, 12 yards) and we will have to win by passing. And our offense hasn't gotten up to full capability yet in the passing game, and the outcome doesn't look good for us against denver.

Re: Portis

Mobby, come on man have a little faith. Portis is going to break out in this one. This game will set the stage for this season and how we will reclaim fear in our opponent's eyes. This is what we have been waiting for ever since J. Gibbs left. And now that he is back we will not be a laughing stock anymore. Have faith bro the running game will be in effect.

Re: Portis

i still have faith. I might not be very optimistic about Denver, but i have some faith left. I just worry too much about our next opponent. My honest prediction after the giants game in week 8 is that we might be 5-2, with both losses coming from the chiefs and broncos, then we'll beat san fran, and we'll win in new york. So i do have some faith that we can get off to a good start. But these next two weeks will prove how tough we really are.
