Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016

Quick question on Bruton did he and ihenacho play together on the broncos? Wondering if Nacho talked Bruton into coming here.

That's why I said Duke is the more experienced and proven Safety not player but Safety.

Duke was a starting S, something Bruton has never been.
Bruton was in Denver before Duke but Duke surpassed him on the depth chart and started ahead of him.
Despite missing the better part of the past 2 seasons due to injury Duke has 15 starts in 4 years compared to Brutons 8 starts sprinkled over 7 years.

Nice. Those numbers are.. irrefutable.

Although.. Reports of Duke during last preseason were overwhelmingly positive. Despite the numbers above, I wouldn't be surprised if Duke competes. Still wouldn't mind bringing in youth/draft pick to compete with these two.

I wouldn't mind drafting another OLB even with Gallette back. I'd be happy with a guy like Floyd from Georgia. Any player on the defensive side would be alright by me. Or Laquon Treadwell if he is available.

How about going after Karlos Dansby now that he's available? Might be a little rich for our blood and a bit older than a normal Scott signing. He is solid though.

he's 33 and he's looking for a lot more than vet minimum. someone will grab him, and he probably does have 2 years left, but i doubt we're the destination. never say never i guess, but it's pretty doubtful.

as for duke's preseason reports... everyone is always great in the preseason (if they aren't abjectly terrible), cause they aren't actually tackling or playing real football. it's like, puff piece central. there are definitely noteworthy things/items that happen, but there's soo much happy noise that i wouldn't rely on those reports too heavily.

You must have a different opinion of what experienced and proven starter means.

But to each their own. Bruton may be coming to start based on money, and I like his measureables.

But I don't see any other way to refer to his career as a journeyman spot starter. Duke started AHEAD of the Bruton when they were on the SAME team. Comparing their counting stats obviously isnt an apples to apples comp considering Duke has accumulated virtually 0 stats the past 2 years due to injury.

At the end of the day, despite being in the league less (and missing ~2 seasons to injury) Duke has more starts then Bruton.

Either way I like forward to watching Bruton on the field, he no doubt adds to the secondary.

That's always a good idea in my book.

Wouldn't want Dansby, although I think he would instantly be the best ILB on the roster.

Agree about drafting an Edge rusher. I would love to draft Emmanuel Ogbah at lick 21. One position that I'm always in favor of drafting is pass rush. Any time, any round pass rush, pass rush, pass rush.

I wouldnt be against a WR but i have Treadwell as my 5th WR.

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016

Are we done in FA?

I think there are still some players out there who could help us.

What about adding a CB?

Brandon Boykin CB, 28, PIT - Very good vs. slot receivers.
Patrick Robinson CB, 25, SD - Worth a look.

A Free Safety?

Reggie Nelson FS, 32, CIN - True CF. Eight INT last season.

A RB?

Ronnie Hillman RB, 24, DEN - Versatile and effective.

A WR?

Rueben Randle, WR, 24, NYG - Big and talented but a head case.

We are absolutely not done. We'll be making occasional moves between now and week 17.

Agreed, he should not be counted on as a starting safety solution. He's big and a sure tackler which fits the McCloughan mold, but Jarrett when healthy will push for this role, as will Nacho.

I think Hall is the lock at FS and will be great at it.

Bruton may not start but he'll make the team because he is outstanding on Special Teams. That was probably a key reason why they decided to sign him.

There are other receivers that people could put near/above him. But I love his size. We haven't had a true playable big receiver in a long time. We could use him a bit differently than all our other guys.

Pass rushers are like pitchers, can't have too many good ones.
