Maybe there is someone on one of the remaining playoff teams that they are really high on as well. I mean, KC, Seattle, and Houston certainly have talented position coaches that might be worth looking at.
Mike Vrabel would be the only one I would look at for non DC's.....he has done a great job and moved up the ranks fast and the DC there gives him a ton of credit to why Houston's D is so good

The offense was about the only bright spot last year, and now with McVay leaving (and maybe other assistants with him), possibly losing the two best receivers, and the fact that the front office can't figure out who Kirk Cousins is...it likely won't be the same.

The lack of talent on the defense can't be appealing, unless you just love a challenge.

Top it all off with a head coach on the back end of his contract, and an owner that hasn't extended a head coach in 18 years...why would you want this job?

Everybody thinks we just interview and sign whoever the top guy is, but it's a two way street. These guys are coming in and interviewing the organization too, to see if it's a good fit for them. (Wade could see from Denver that it wasn't). So, don't be surprised if we end up with Manusky by default...
Yeah, my big post on the "Joe Barry" thread pretty much stated just this. It's not up to the Redskins, it's up to the candidates. And I bet each one is giving pause to the situation, because it really isn't an ideal situation. We see how quickly some of the other guys have made the decision on other teams, so I think that speaks volumes.

I will say that if a deal with Pettine or Bradley isn't done by today, then neither of those guys come to Washington.

Honestly, I think Jay Gruden is not in a situation where he chooses a position guy to move up and try out at DC. He needs a proven successful DC. He just lost Sean McVay, which I think we'll wind up seeing meant a lot more to us than what we think he did, and so there's pressure to keep the offense at a high level on top of rebuilding the defense. Gruden has a lot on his plate, and I think he needs the best DC available hired today.

Not saying he would leave KC, or even want to be a DC again, but what about Emmit Thomas?

Re: The coordinators

this is turning into a total disaster, gruden should not call the plays to much is on the head coach, i don,t think we are getting bradley either as D.C think he is going to the chargers with lynn, ugh we are down to pettine and that,s it i think and keep in mind we still need a D.L coach and secondary coach as well, i would like to hire a good O.C.but i don,t think anyone good is available and god help us if we lose callahan

Re: The coordinators

I heard this Joe Barry guy is available now, might have to give him a call.

For OC, no Mike McCoy, any other words on who leading candidates are?

This post is a very good description of what this job opportunity may look like to a DC or OC candidate.

Would you consider Chip Kelly for OC?

Re: The coordinators

Really bummed that Bradley seems like he isn't an option anymore. Seems like Pettine may be the leader now?

I'm only seeing that the Chargers are targeting him. There were reports on January 1 that Bradley would go with Lynn wherever he went, but that's been quiet since.

I wouldn't assume Bradley is off the board. He still has ties to everyone at the Skins.

That said our situation would not be considered ideal for any DC. Our talent is iffy, and Gruden is going into his make or break year which makes it entirely possible the entire staff is cleaned out following the 2017 season.

But for me Pettine is just as good a choice as Bradley. Wade was the candidate that had me most excited, now that he's gone I don't see the reason to rush.
