Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.

I think that Alex will be here next year, if just for the cap hit reasons alone.

The team needs to bite the bullet and go for a top talent, 1st round draft pick. we won't be a playoff caliber team until we get a premium QB at the helm. Alex and Colt are not the answer except as place holders.

Quite possible he is going to keep playing like that but I am gonna give him at least one single practice rep with the first team before I write him off as being able to improve our offense enough to win the division. We saw flashes yesterday and you cannot deny him and Reed are on the same page. Maybe some film of himself and not someone else and a little practice will help him with the turnovers. You can keep my crow in the freezer until at least next Tuesday.

Are you shitting me? You see no possible way him being thrown into that huge game after years of standing on the sidelines, on a short week on the road in Dallas, and zero practice might have had anything to do with his performance? Also you see no decline in our defense and run game over the last couple weeks that might have something to do with the loss? Alex Smith would have won last night without a shadow of a doubt in your mind so much so to the point that we should apologize publicly for ever doubting that he was the reason we were cruising along at 6-3 and now we cannot get out of our own way? Brother please.

I think he did a much better job of leading the receivers than AS. How many times has Davis been wide open and Smith over/under/not even been close to him? CM did have some piss poor throws and the turnovers are always going to be higher with CM, but 23 points was kind of the high point for an AS run offense. CM it will be the standard.

Not a short practice week, zero practices.

Colt had had zero practices with the first team since becoming the QB.

Everybody needs to take a breath.

He might suck and be the worst ever, BUT the situation so far might not be indicative of what the team may be.

The article by Schefter is entitled “Smiths return not certain “. Lol. Matty he is a 34 year old quarterback who just sustained a major major injury. I think him not returning is a completely legit option. The thing is that whether he does or not we are probably screwed. Cap hell either way because he was not the answer. We locked him up like he was Aaron Rodgers.

Yeah I said, short week with zero practices. I think i said zero practices twice. Colt nor Alex is the answer. So we can all take a breath but we are in deep doo doo going forward.

Couple vets who could be available this offseason Ryan Crapinnhill, Joe Flacfuck, and Crappy Dalton...

We need to draft QB immediately

Cant draft one unless he is the potential answer going forward. We got way too many holes , wr’s, db’s, oline, to draft a quarterback that might pan out. Id rather ride with colt or alex another year - address those other needs- and see who is available in the next draft.

One player to watch, Nick Mullens SF 49ers. Depending on what he does the rest of the season, the niners might trade him next season.

I read the article didn’t see anything that said “good chance” he doesn’t return. I know we have a lot of weekend MD’s here but the only thing I took from that was it’s wait and see mode right now. We’ll know more in a few months as he starts to heal.

I do not think it takes an armchair MD to come to the conclusion that his return is uncertain, or even leaning towards no. Old, wasn’t playing that great, major injury. Again, even if he heals up incredibly fast and easy do you feel good about him as our starter? If he was playing scared before the injury he is going to be a shell of a shell of a shell upon a possible return.
