Re: WR Screen... when will we see it tomorrow?
Does anyone know why we don't run Moss on the reverse more often? He's so frickin fast, he'd at least get back to the line of scrimmage - and more likely, break it for a first down or more.

Re: WR Screen... when will we see it tomorrow?
The beauty of the Sellers goaline play is that it looks exactly like a Portis run we do where Sellers is the leadblocker running Portis off-tackle...by the time Sellers break from the tackle outside and looks for the throw, the defense reads run and everyone hits the line of scrimmage. If we had Jacksonville-era Brunell he would also be able to fake that toss (if covered) and scamper in to the endzone.

i remember couple games ago Aikman saying he hated that play in the NFL, but that we run it the best, and it's amazing what adding a little speed to that play will accomplish. was the WR screen a big Gibbs staple in the '80s? i wasn't old enough to notice.

The best part about The Play (besides the fact that it means a Skins TD) is that we sit 6 rows from the field in the endzone, so The Play comes like right at us. I was pretty close to catching the ball that Sellers threw into the crowd during the Cowboys game, but a stupid Cowboys fan in a cape and no shirt got it. He then said he was giving it to his mom as an Xmas gift. What a douche! If it were a Cowboys TD in Texas Stadium Id have thrown that junk back at the player and hoped I knocked him out. What kind of fan keeps a TD ball from the other team? Sorry Im rambling, but its my last day at work before I go on vacation and I gotta get out of here!!!! |

I agree. Or I would have stuffed it down a Cowboy's fans throat!

Re: WR Screen... when will we see it tomorrow?
Santana likes the WR screen a lot per his ExtremeSkins chat.
'To be honest with you, this year, my favorite pass IS the screen pass. Anytime they call it, I’m dying to get it in my hands and do wonders with it. It’s crazy that over the years, the screen pass, as much as I’ve been running it, this has been the most yards I’ve gotten out of it since High School. To see it work the way its working now, that has to be my #1 play right now."

Re: WR Screen... when will we see it tomorrow?
i disagree with brud,i dont think barber will be lined up on moss all game.tampa has always played the cover 2 ever since kiffin has been the d coordinator in tampa.in theory you would think the wr screen would be effective against a zone.thats probably part of the reason portis is so good against them, knowing where people should be all the time

Re: WR Screen... when will we see it tomorrow?
Someting to look for:
I've noticed a couple of times that they have run the screen they go through what I believe is a charade beforehand of pretending to be disorganized with Brunell directing traffic etc. This was the case against Dallas where it looked as though the Cowboys had the play snuffed, only to allow Moss out of the gate. Brunell orders Jacobs to split left and then has to bring Cooley over to cover the tackle. A little suspicious. I also believe this was the case on the touchdown against K.C. although I may be wrong. It might also be a coincidence but I find it unlikely that anyone would be unsure what to do on aplay they run constantly. To answer the question, look for it about play 6 of a sustained drive near the opponents 30 yard line. Tampa's strategy will be to try to grab Moss before the ball gets there like they did in the first game that led to a tipped pick by Rice. |

Re: WR Screen... when will we see it tomorrow?
with as agressive as the Bucs d can be at times, I see this being a play that could get called possibly as much as almost half a dozen times tommorrow. I know I for one hope we finally see a portis dump screen or maybe another flea flicker.
