Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark
I was talking with someone only two days ago about patten. If anyone hasn't noticed he is an ass. I have heard him only say a few things since he came here but once i distinctfully remember him insulting the fans of washington. i am pretty sure that it was when we were booing-either ramsey or brunell- and he said that the fans only boo because they wish they could be on the field. and continued to expand on it saying that the fans shouldn't be booing people who are basically superior to them.

well here is part of it. Doesn't sound as bad as i remember it but still insulting the fans. stupid shit like this makes people get a bad perception of you. He played 3 preseason games and insulted the fans and I remember it so it goes to show that you shouldn't make a bad first impression "He can't worry about [the boos]. Fans don't make the decisions," Patten said. "Half of them come in the stadium because they can't be on the field." |

Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark
I am going to monitor very closely the things Patten says from now on. I too remember him having some dispariging remarks about his ability to play at the end of last season, and having been placed on IR. He sounded then as though he may have had a chip, and for a player who has been here for such a short period of time (and proved nothing) maybe shouldn't have so much to say. I don't think he's the one you seek out to interview for fear of what he may say.

Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark
not a big deal... but he's had at least 3 whiny quotes so far, which is kind of annoying.

Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark
we may be a little sensitive here. it's not exactly what you would expect Bill Clinton to say in his situation. But we didnt hire him for his political savvy. Take it easy boyz, Take it eazy.

Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark
For what it's worth (which I don't think is much, given that it's a newspaper report and all), I have also noticed that Patten has seemed rather pissy. THere are obvious reasons for this: he didn't get the ball thrown his way when he was healthy, they put him on IR very quickly (in his opinion), and now all the talk is of getting a #2 WR as if Patten doesn't even play for the team. He's got a lot of pride as a player, and by all accounts, he's a real pro in practice. And Gibbs has always sung his praises, including saying that we already have good WRs here, etc.
We'll see--my guess is it will be settled on the field. If Patten is really a good #2, it will become obvious in Saunders' offense. If not, then shut your yap, dave!

Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark
I know I'm in the minority on the issue, but I don't see what the fuss is all about. It seems a little sensitive to get upset that Patten didn't want to be on IR, joked about not volunteering to give his money back, etc.

You would think something, seemingly , so trivial wouldn't stir such a response - but I guess that goes to show it's not so trivial.

Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark
This whole thread is over-analyzing and taking out of context alot of his words. I'm sure he was asked by the reporter if he volunteered to give his money back. The added little tid-bit was probably him defending himself for not restructuring, not him attacking the redskins (as I initially interpreted it). Makes sense to me. He's not pulling a lavar or a t.o. here... just explaining himself.
He likes being a redskin. You can't define someone's character by one or two out of context sentence long remarks. |
