Re: Las Vegas Super Bowl Odds
I can see their thinking about this, but based on these odds, all the changes we have made won't even get us from the divisional playoffs to the NFC Championship, so I don't think they are accurate about it.
They definitely see Dallas as having made big strides, with the addition of Owens and some players at linebacker. To me we are truly the favorites to win the Super Bowl. However, Sean Taylor needs to be on the team, and we have to integrate the new offense, and that is not likely to happen overnight, and could cost us some games we'd otherwise win. Staying reasonably healthy is a given requirement as well. We also have a lot of new players and it will take time for them to get into sync with everyone also. But I think that by the end of the year we will, with luck, be ready to make a real run at a Super Bowl title. I don't have that kind of feeling about Dallas. I don't know if Parcells still has the touch to keep everything together the way he needs to in terms of keeping them motivated and in dealing with the personalities. Seattle to me will be the top obstacle. And the NFC East has four teams that could win ten games if the cards fell right for them, though it couldn't literally happen probably. But the strength of our division is important to toughen us for the stretch drive. |

The changes we made weren't made while other teams were standing still.

Re: Las Vegas Super Bowl Odds
Even if we are the best team in the NFL right now, a whole lot of luck will be needed to get to the superbowl. There is no way anybody could predict right now, what they are doing, if setting up the odds to get people to gamble away thier money.

I think we fully addressed all the key issues on offense except depth on the line. We have the potential to have an explosive offense by the end of the year, though I expect us to have less success to start. When you consider how good our defense already is, I don't think that Seattle or Carolina can feel they will make the kind of strides we probably will. This team has been building something special over the past couple of years. It takes time, and things began to blossom last year. I think this year and for the next couple of years we will be a very strong force in the NFL. |

Not bad.. I got 18-1 odds at a casino in the Bahamas last month. I'll be looking forward to going back to collect my $180 in February!

Re: Las Vegas Super Bowl Odds
I guess 8 to 1 is okay but dallas sure does have a lot to prove this year being a 5 to 1. I'm kinda surprised to see tampa bay at 15 to 1. Chris simms has developed well and they had a solid year last season, but thats why its not my call.

Re: Las Vegas Super Bowl Odds
What is intresting is that we 4/1 odds of winning the NFC. I like those odds in a non-betting kind of way.

What a miserable set of odds, you can get around twice every price if you look around.

Re: Las Vegas Super Bowl Odds
The thing to remember about odds makers is that they're there to make sure that the house doesn't pay out any more than they take in. ...So teams with more fans will have better odds regardless of their likelihood of playing. You see this in college sports all the time. USC and Notre Dame, Wisconsin, etc. are always gonna have better odds than some smaller school with fewer fans, just because every SC, Notre Dame and Wisconsin alum is gonna place a bet when they're in Vegas. The same thing goes with horse racing--there's odds making and then there's handicapping. Never confuse the two if you're gonna make a bet.
