Skins Schedule.

Has anyone notice that for that past couple years the Redskins have always started the season with a short week. They have had their bye week like in week 3 or 4? I think that has made it harder to stay competitive down the stretch. This year it is during week 8 which I think is ideal. Shortly afterward in the middle to the end of the season will really be crunch time, there is a divisional, and nfc south stretch that could make or break the year. Also, I think Dallas has an easy schedule which could help make it nerve racking for the division. Still, Im saying the skins will go 13-3 or better.

Re: Skins Schedule.

I have to agree, that it is better to have the bye week in the middle or towards the end of the season. But the skins also seem to have a bit of a problem banging out and winning the 1st and 2nd game after there bye week, now this may be that since there bye week has been towards the beginning of the season and they are not in there groove yet, this may not be a factor.

Also it is back to the Gibbs era and that means the skins win games, it also helps to get some new talent and if im not mistaken an offensive coordinator from Kansas City, well that at least is what JJ Birden has told me haha. Im a district manager for a Fitness Equipment Company and JJ just happens to own Prospot fitness and comes and sees us, he said that the offensive coordinator for Kansas City is one of the best in the game, we shall see i hope he is right or he is going to have to cut his prices for me to buy from him hahaha.

Re: Skins Schedule.

It was only a few years ago that we had the Thursday night opener, which gave us a long week. Early marquee games are a sign of respect from the league - they know you will get the ratings.

More than than who's keeping stats for the skins? I know someone has info, they went to china?, its cool they are repsected to play early, im just tired of them always starting week 2 in a shorter week. I think the league is conspiring against the skins,

Re: Skins Schedule.

The Skins close the 2006 schedule with 4 out of 6 at home, with some of their most crucial games at FedEx (Carolina, Atlanta and Philly), and the season ending game against the Giants which could have serious playoff implications.

All in all a pretty fair tradeoff for starting the season off with short weeks. Not to mention the very nice midseason bye in week 8 and the next week after the bye home against Dallas.

I got no problems with it. As has been stated, nice bye, good finish. I for one like the prestige the team gets of leading off the season, big Monday night games. At this time the most coveted MNF game has to be Skins/boys. I could do without the attendant short week.
The oversea's stuff, etc., tells me the skins are a highly respected team around the world, in the sports community. You wouldn't know it from the sports media, but that having been said, it's cool to get the WORLD respect, even if it is kind of of a pain in the ass

Re: Skins Schedule.

this is the first time in a long time the skins have a favorable schedule. the bye week in a great spot and down the stretch just about all the games that matter are at home

Re: Skins Schedule.

Looking at our schedule again, it's tougher than I original thought when it came out. I wonder how tough our schedule is compared to the rest of the league is.

Re: Skins Schedule.

Don't forget though we had Oakland and San Diego at home last year and we lost both games. If we won one of those games we could have won the division.

Re: Skins Schedule.

Another scheduling quirk is that we have opened the season at home for 5 years in a row now.

The last opening day the Skins were away was at San Diego in 2001.

Re: Skins Schedule.

I also think the skins have had top 5 hardest schedule for the past some odd years. Wheres are stat boy? on a side note recently i purchased nfl head coach, horrible game dont buy it. They rate Greg Williams as being a 57 overall rated defensively minded coach but said he is wonderful coaching the O line ??? Please boycott this game as I am returning it tomorrow out of principle and in truth and justice.

Re: Skins Schedule.

This year, from the sources I could find online, we have the 11th most difficult schedule. It's DEFINATELY easier then prior years. For some reason, I couldn't locate strength of schedule rankings for prior years except for 2003, where we had the 6th-most difficult.

I remember that one pretty clearly, Jeff George was awful and got an earful from Marty on the sideline.

Good times.
