Now i know not all of those calls were for Betts' availability. Maybe some were for Patten. Could anyone else be on the trading block?
I'd bet that most of those calls are for Betts.

Maybe there's some interest for Patten, but WR isn't the valued commodity that RB is. Teams have real needs for RB, most teams on the other hand aren't begging for #3 WRs.

What I dont understand is why would we give a higher draft pick if we had a worse record?

One last point for me to make, which is pure speculation, in aquiring TJ and sending Lellee to Atlanta, haven't we in some way hurt the Eagles who were interested in both players. Just a thought.......

Think of it as a bet between the two teams. If they finish better, they get better picks.

It wouldn't make much sense the other way around.

It's just one of those conditionals to make a trade work.

Good point.

The Eagles haven't done much to address their needs at WR or RB.

Two premium players just went off the market.

GREAT THINKING. You're right.

The Eagles are hopeless for 2006. Westbrook is hurt, so is Buckhalter, Moats isn't the answer and they have no RB depth, so they're looking at a fragile and old Stephen Davis. WRs for McNabb to throw to since they can't run the ball are a 2nd-year #1 WR in Reggie Brown, Pinkston and Hank Baskett.

Reports say that the Skins weren't even interested in Davis. His agent contacted the team and the Skins basically said no thanks.

I think Davis is done myself. I think people were thinking with their hearts and not their minds if they seriously wanted him back.

Not everyone was saying Davis could contribute and had years left. I can't recall what Buster's opinion has been but I wouldn't just automatically lump his opinion in with those that said Davis had something left to give and assume he changed his opinion.

Great, I have Clinton Portis in my Fantasy League and I've just lost at least 5-6 TDs from him this year!

I never said that... and there has to be a reason the Panthers released him. HURT, INJURY PRONE, and OLD when was the last time Stephen finished a season. I think it was when he broke the old Redskins rushing record (1999). Anyway we are much better off now.

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

You know, maybe it's just because I'm watching the highlight films, but when I watch this guy I get three impressions:
1. A bruising back with a ton of power.
2. DECEPTIVE quickness and speed. Guys this big aren't supposed to run that fast.
3. Great vision and patience in hitting the holes.

Seriously, for those of you questioning this move, watch this guy play a little and tell me he's not the prototypical Gibbs RB.

Sounds a lot like another great power back, Jerome Bettis.

He's definitely going to offer up something entirely different than Portis. A true thunder and lightening combo.

That's right, I was one of the ones supporting giving Davis a look.......and for the record, I love the TJ move. Next year's 3rd rounder? Who cares? Chances are slim that you'd find a 3rd rounder next year with the ability of TJ.....and even then how does that help us THIS year? Trading 1st rounders in the worst case scenario? So what? I don't see Denver and the Skins finishing up all that far apart anyway. You're talking about maybe moving 5 or 6 positions.

Agreed. How can anybody be upset about getting one of the premier goaline backs in the NFL? And a more than serviceable backup if (God Forbid) Portis were to go down. In this offense, too many good RBs is not a problem I mind having.
