i have a feeling this will a great move... it doesn't seem to make sense given, at least what i thought, our depth at RB.

but i think the combo of CP and TJ will be awesome.

Duckett is an interesting pick up. I like it.
I'm sorry to the Laddell Betts fans, but the guy has been a slightly better Taylor Jacobs, injury prone and potential is all he has to show for three years. Betts has not impressed in preseason.

Next trade: Laddell Betts and and draft pick to San Diego for Pro Bowl MLB Donnie Edwards. He wants out of S.D.
We could move undersized Lemar Marshall to WLB and we would be strong again at LB.

Cornerback depth will have to be solved in next years draft.

Check out Todays Sports Illustrated feature "Going Hardcore" ; He's cut, and has the biggest balls in the league.

Didn't we already trade our 2007 4th rounder for Lloyd?

Just wondering.

As for those who think Duckett is not worth a third ATL has had the best running game overall the past to 2 seasons and with AL Saunders as our Head Coach Offense noone will be able to stop this offense when the season comes around!!!!
Damn, I hope you are right, becuase I think this is going to cause some bad chemistry on the field!

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

I have another scenario.

Sellars and Duckett to OPEN the game. Establish some running game. Beat the defensive line into a pulp. Same effect as the body blows during a boxing match. (Sort of like Sean Taylor on offense.) CP comes in after about 1 qtr. Everybody's too beat up to catch up with him or hit him hard. In addition, because they'll have to stack the box, the receivers should be WIDE open.

I don't want to hear shit when he has double digit touchdowns and keeps Portis healthy.

Betts has had several chances. At the end of the day he isn't reliable.

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

Great pick up guys it will help for the time CP is injured, and it gives you a goal line and shortline specialist. This brings some questions?

1) Maybe Portis injury is bigger than reported

2) I as some don't like giving a high first day pick specially for a player in his last year of contract but I know this is Gibbs philosophy prefers veterans then rookies specially since a lot of them just turn out to be bust ( like our 2004 3rd round pick Peterman who we just cut).

But now you only have a 1st rounder and then you go to the 5th round but again it's win now and essentially a good move.

3) wonder how much money you'll give this guy

4) what happens to Betts ( 1 for 1 liked this kid) and Cartwright I know Gibbs said they are in the plans but they just moved down a spot and Duckett is young it's not like he'll be here 1 year and leave only if he sucks which we know he doesn't.

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

It's actually about the fact that Betts is entering the last year of his contract and that a move had to be made now. Apparently, there were talks between Betts and the Skins of a contract extension. Maybe that didn't get done? Maybe Betts wanted to be a featured back somewhere else as he's mentioned? If anything, the Duckett pickup is going to provide a good 1-2 punch as well as good backup if Portis goes down.
