Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
About the Patriots cheating...the more I hear about it, the more I get pissed off. Think about it, a lot of times a drive comes down to how you play on 3rd down...if the Pats are cheating and know what they are calling, that changes the game drastically!
Oddly enough, my brother (still lives in Boston) usually sees the world with rose colored glasses on when it comes to his favorite players or teams, this is what he e-mailed me: If they find them guilty I honestly don't care what they do. Make them forfiet the season for all I care. I was reading about it in today's paper, and I found myself not caring about how the team does right now. If they are found guilty then it will affect how I feel about them. Here I am thinking they are doing everything the right way, the Patriot Way, and what have they been doing?? CHEATING??? Darn them!!!!! I am shocked that he even said that. But it goes to show you how deep this is.

Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Apparently there have been several teams that have suspected it. This is huge.

Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
From Mort at ESPN:
Sources: Goodell determines Pats broke rules by taping Jets' signals By Chris Mortensen ESPN.com NFL Determines Pats Violated Rules NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has determined that the New England Patriots violated league rules Sunday when they videotaped defensive signals by the New York Jets' coaches, according to league sources. NFL security officials confiscated a camera and videotape from Patriots video assistant Matt Estrella on the New England sidelines when it was suspected he was recording the Jets' defensive signals. Sources say the visual evidence confirmed the suspicion. Goodell is considering severe sanctions, including the possibility of docking the Patriots "multiple draft picks" because it is the competitive violation in the wake of a stern warning to all teams since he became commissioner, the sources said. The Patriots have been suspected in previous incidents. The Patriots will be allowed an opportunity to present their case by Friday, sources said, most likely via the telephone. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on Tuesday that no official decision has been made and that the club has not been notified. The league also was reviewing a possible violation into the number of radio frequencies the Patriots were using during Sunday's game, sources said. The team did not have a satisfactory explanation when asked about possible irregularities in its communication setup during the game. Goodell is expected to have a decision no later than Friday but that is not set in stone. Chris Mortensen covers the NFL for ESPN. ESPN - Sources: Goodell determines Patriots broke rules - NFL

Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
This is awful, I hope the Patriots get punished for this. There is no need to cheat and it's not like your team is the Browns. You have a winning history these past few years and you a ton of talent. Why cheat?

Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
Wouldn't it be crazy if the Pats went into a tailspin and finished like 7 and 9 or something. I doubt it but that would be pretty telling.

Yeah one of my really good friends is a Patriots fan and I can't stand him always gloating. I hope they actually turn out with a losing season for once, if only once.

They have a lot of talent, sure, but in years past they never really had outstanding talent and still won...how? This explains a lot.

Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
This isn't the first time the Pats have been reportedly stealing signals from other teams with the aid of photos/video. I say take away their 1st round pick and make them forfeit the game against the Jets.
I pray the Commish is VERY harsh. |

Let's face it, if they lose a 3rd and a 5th rounder (seems to be the popular comment right now) who cares? If you could win 3 super bowls by cheating like this and only lose a 3rd and a 5th round pick, would you do it? I guarantee every team out there would! Send a real message, give them the loss and a 1st round pick!!! Love the idea sheriff!

Re: I knew the Pats were cheaters...
it def taints their wins,I hope they can find out how far back this goes,if they were doing it the players would have to be in on it,wouldnt they?Or at least the player on the field who calls the signals for the defense, should they be punished too?
I've been nuetral on Belichek,I've always liked Brady, till he dumped Bridget after knocking her up and having nothing to do with her during her pregnancy, meanwhile hes out with some other hottie,Ijust cant respect a man who knocks somebody up then leaves them for another woman while their pregnant
