Are the redskins gearing up for 5 WR sets?

Maybe the reason we signed McCardell is to implement a five receiver set.
The spread offense is really working for the teams that use it from college to the pro’s.

They signed him due to Moss being nicked up, and overall lack of depth behind Moss and ARE.

Guess Brandon Lloyd really pissed somebody off,Again.Mccardell is a good WR but my god all we heard about BL was he was Great with SF and he made tons of plays,which he did,BUT come on put him in the game stretch the field,between Moss and Lloyd we would have a hell of a Deep threat tandem.Just passing time til 4:00 when I can go-

No Matty pretty much hit it on the head. Reche Caldwell was signed cause Lloyd couldnt get on the field, and MCcardell was signed cause Moss isnt 100%.

Thats insane....no chance at all.
What they should do is have a 2 back set with ARE, Moss and Cooley in all the time.

There are your 5 best ball handlers and it give you the option to run...
Why we haven't seen this is beyond me.

LOL we can't even send Cooley out in pass patterns right now due to the need to keep him in to help out with blocking and you think they are going to start running 5 wides?

Not sure that his numbers were that great in SF and the think was that he had talent that SF was not using in him. I don't think we can say (fro sure) that he ticked someone off as much as he is just not showing the coaches anything in pratice.

New England isn't missing their entire right side along the offensive line and they also don't have a QB with 10 career starts.

Things That Make You Go Hmmmm

Anyone else wonder if just maybe the fact that Clinton Portis has tendinitis now might have something to do with why he wasn't in the game for those final two plays in Week 3? I mean, unless he hurt himself slipping in the locker room after the game or something, then you'd have to imagin he got hurt in the actual game itself, right?

Yeah, I know Betts and Portis and "interchangeable" and all, but some players out here believe Portis re-injured his knee in the fourth quarter of that game, forcing him to the sidelines in that final drive. I am told that Jason Campbell may have said as much on the radio this morning.

Hey, I get why teams hide injuries, etc., but Portis, Gibbs and Bubba Tyer all said the tailback was perfectly fine after that game, and in the ensuing days. Bottom line: It's no surprise the tendinitis flared back up - that's what it does and Portis plays a brutally physical position - and like the team said in the offseason, it's much harder to control the rest and rehab during the season than it is before the grind begins.

Also, forgot to mention this yesterday, but well afer practice Campbell and Todd Collins were working with the receivers in shorts and t-shirts, running lots of routes, working on timing. Now, Santana Moss - who very well could miss Sunday's game with a groin injury - was not taking part, obviously, and neither was one other wide receiver, for what it's worth.

Randle El, Thrash, McCardell, and Caldwell were excitedly doing the extra work. Maybe it doesn't mean anything, but the omission of the other healthy wideout did not go un-noticed around here, with hiim back in the locker room while the rest of his position group was working.

I just read this too. Loyd isn't even trying anymore to impress the coaches I bet. He's gonna get paid & he knows it. If he had any foresight, he would think about his value after this season. AT this rate he's on track to get released then signed by some team to a 1 yr. vet min. deal.
