Re: JLC: The Cerrato Era Has Begun
Biggest issue: just because someone says they are a WCO disciple, doesn't mean you know one single thing about their offensive philosophy.

Re: JLC: The Cerrato Era Has Begun
As Schneed pointed out, this thread is about Vinny. If you want to discuss different coaching philosophies and/or the importance of coaching, please express your beliefs in a different thread.

Are you in essence saying that game planning is overated, but motivation of players isn't? You stated early in this post that all coaches game plan. If You follow your logic, you are essentially saying that actually all coaches MUST have good game plans just to keep up w/the competition. |

We could debate back and forth, but I'm sure it will come up in a thread that isn't about Vinny Cerrato, and I'll bring up some interesting points then.

I think the organzational structure is falling in line exactly as I expected it would and, as I've mentioned to you separately, I think VC is really putting his imprint on this franchise much more so than ever before.

1) the effects of gameplan are overvalued to fit with the assumption that the winning coach had the more intelligent gameplan. That is to say that people always label winning coaches as great gameplanners when in many instances, this is not the case. I'm saying it's really, really, really difficult to make a bad gameplan week after week. People with that aptitude tend not to pursue the field of coaching. 2) I'm saying that because NFL players range from the ages of 22-40, it's safe to say that motivation is predominantly internal in nature. Players that can self-motivate will be successful whereever they go, and there's not a lot a coach can do for a 26 year old man who can't motivate himself.

Re: JLC: The Cerrato Era Has Begun
He can be judged on inheriting a playoff caliber team a few players away from the SB and see what he does with it. I give him 2 years and that's being generous.

Re: JLC: The Cerrato Era Has Begun
I think it's a blessing in disguise to have Vinny being held accountable for how this team is going to perform for the next couple of seasons at least. It is in fact his team now. He's pretty much in control of player personell and the coaching staff. While I'm not sure if this coming season will be a true measure of what Vinny will do for this team, I believe we will definitely have a better understanding in the seasons to come. This can either be great for the Redskins or disasterious. Right now, the front office is something everybody loves to hate, so I doubt Vinny will be given much of the benefit of the doubt.
