Poll: When will our last Draft Pick to sign, sign his contract?
A. Tommorrow, before TC
B. One day after the start of TC C. A week late, after the start of TC D. Thirty minutes after the Draft picks before him and in back sign!

Re: Poll: When will our last Draft Pick to sign, sign his contract?
All picks should be in camp when it starts. Zorn already made it clear how he feels.
It's important to us, but it's really important to them to not lose a day. Guys that sit out and dicker over dollars have a very difficult time participating that first year in the regular season." -- Coach Jim Zorn on getting all 10 draft picks signed by the start of training camp. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/teams/report/WAS/10896055 IMO a second round pick has no buisness holding out. I mean, how much more money can he actually demand? |

Re: Poll: When will our last Draft Pick to sign, sign his contract?
I keep coming back to my office expecting to see that Thomas & Davis have signed, but no news.
I know serious talks to begin until July & then often a deal is made the week preceding camp, but I don't remember any non first round picks unsigned w/just a couple days left to report. Anyone remember 2nd round picks signing this late? Think it's got anything to do w/the fact that Thomas is our 1st overall pick & he's looking to get a few thousand extra? |

Less than 48hrs to go and nothing is a little worrisome.. On a related note, where has JLC been? Nothing on the RI Blog?

Re: Poll: When will our last Draft Pick to sign, sign his contract?
For what its worth...here is a link suggesting that 2nd round draft picks could be slowed due to 4 year contracts...and the 4th year is not part of the collective bargaining agreement....it has something to do with cap and signing bonus allocations.
Anyways...the league is supposedly still interpreting this and should announce it presumably this week...many teams are waiting on this. Explanation for lack of draft pick*signings - Niners Nation Quote from Blog ESPN - John Clayton Blog "The problem? Teams such as the Redskins report July 20, leaving little time to negotiate deals for top picks. The Redskins, for example, have three second-rounders who will be affected by the eventual ruling, and if the agents for those players wait for a ruling, the team will be scrambling to get deals done." I personally think our remaining 2 2nd rounders may miss the first day. My opinion is that they will rule on Monday and they will sign then...it is a little late to get this done today. By the way...I dont think Kelly is actually signed "Kelly's deal is for four years and $3.36 million, which includes $1.655 million guaranteed, according to a source familiar with the negotiations who asked not to be identified because a contract has not been signed. " They need to negotiate to get bonuses in non cap years to count against a capped year....and there is some loophole to give rookies a bonus in their final contract year...if uncapped...it needs interpretation of how the bonus is allocated per the cap. Schneed? you out there to explain better?

All of our picks will be at camp on time, no chance any of these guys hold out (NO ONE IS CLOSE TO THAT KIND OF POSITION TO BARGAIN)
