Too early to give up, if you finish a season strong you have a good taste in your mouth at least!

If he can get back I think he would want to get back but one quick question when is the contract hearing or did it happen already I thought it was supposed to be in November?

You just asked the question that MIGHT hold the answer to everyone's hopes and aspirations. I asked in another thread if LaVar's rehab from arthroscopic surgery that was supposed to take 2-3 weeks to heal (and there was a bye week to intervene there - would have been faster if his grievance had already been decided. When I asked the question, it was received about as warmly as a fart in an operating room... I know everyone will jump in here yelling that LaVar is a beast and a warrior and that all he wants to do is win. I don't read minds so I don't know what he wants to do - except that I do know that he wants another $6M from Danny Boy that he says he was "cheated out of". If he didn't want that, he would have dropped the grievance. I know he is not a beast; he has completely human DNA. He isn't a warrior either; the warriors are in Iraq and Afghanistan at the moment. His agents - the Postons - might be calling the shots here and it is NOT inconceivable that they would find it "beneficial" to "withhold his services" during the time leading up to the arbitration. "Withholding services" has happened with some of their other clients...

Trade Arrington. He is not the player everyone thinks he is. Clear up some cap room. We need it.

When he was signed he got a signing bonus of $15.5M, that would ALL come due at once if we traded him. |

If he was able to play and was cleared by the team doctors, I find it a little hard to believe we wouldn't have heard from the Poston brothers and their intentions to hold him out until this issue is resolved. If they were going to hold him out, why would they have not held him out the entire season instead? At this point holding him out doesn't give them much leverage, not as much as if they held him out from the start of the season. |

i thought he already said the money wasnt his main focus... sure everyone wants a cool mil or 6, but if our boy LA is doin that cos of $, that right there shows our probs are much deeper than they appear. i thought he just was rushed into coming back and still hasnt been able to go... i dont see him rushing back this season. maybe in the last few games but really, whats the point?

Arrington would be playing if Bubba cleared him. No use for him to play hurt when we're 3-7. He's already missed all the games that really coulda meant something. Ease up on the guy. He's a beast and he'll be back before the season is over. People talking about trading him? You crazy! If we win out we could get a wildcard mathematically. Lose 1 more and no mathematical chance! Reguardless next year will be the test for Gibbs and our team. I STILL BELIEVE!!!

I like Lavar but he is defiently overated, he is marketable and a big personality but his production does not remotly merit his contract, I saw an interview the other night on comcast and Lavar was literly crying because of a little boy he visited in the hospital who was just fighting to stay alive and how bad he felt for him he is a truly caring person there is no way Lavar is taking his time rehabing because of his contract NO WAY!
I have a solution for this contract situation Lavar should start some kind of fund like a make a wish type program and DS should contribute the first 6 million everyone win's with that type of solution! :thumb: |

I think Offiss is right. I agree that LaVar, while still one of the better defensive players in the league, is a little overated. He is a great player, no doubt, and we are really missing him on our defense. Hoewver, he does care, and I dont think that he would be holding out. Why would he have rushed back? That might have been a mistake but he did it cause he wanted to play. I love LaVar, I really hope he is back soon.

I think it's really easy to be suspicious, even paranoid, of a professional athlete's motivations and behavior. These guys (and gals) make more money in one week than a good many of make in a year! We all have to keep in mind that there are honest sincere players out there that see more than the money. Cal Ripken was a fine example of that for many years with the Orioles.

i really don't understand how some of you guys can say that lavar is overrated. to me he is one of the best linebackers in the nfl. just imagine if lavar played weak side linebacker 5 years in a row for the same coach, in the same system, instead he's played weak side and strong side ( two totally differrent positions ) for, not one coach, with one system but five coaches with five differnt systems and he still makes the pro-bowl. how is that overrated?
