2003 Vs 2009 Redskins
It's amazing that 6 years after the Spurrier experiment we end up with virtually the same team, A patched up roster of questionable talent.
We hear the same complaints about Zorn and Spurrier. The same goes for Campbell and Ramsey. Hell, Let's add Moss and Coles into the mix. The Offensive lines... Both are 5 man speed bumps. Looking at both rosters, it's clear that the person who put both of these teams together has a facination for Running backs and disregard offensive linemen. Could Spurrier and Zorn be solid head coaches who are victims of bad ownership? It's not unheard of. Shanahan was a bust in Oakland before winning superbowls with Denver. Belichek was a joke in Cleveland, Now he is considered a genius. Oakland and Cleveland are generally considered to be two of the worst franchises in the NFL. Since Spurriers departure, The Redskins did not draft one linemen who can contribute to the team. instead they've added star cornerbacks, Runningbacks, WRs, Safeties and Linebackers. Clearly patching up a few holes on the roster with stars doesn't work if there isn't a strong core to the team. I think it's time for a savior to arrive and blow up this mess. if you look at the Seahawks a few years go, They rebuilt their team around the line. They had the best offensive line and it took them to a superbowl with a mediocre QB and an Overrated RB. I hope someone will take over controll of the team and build it from the ground up. BTW, Who would win, 2003 or 2009 Redskins? Last edited by jamf; 10-17-2009 at 01:44 AM. Reason: I misspelled Genius :( |

that "mediocre" qb has taken multiple trips to the pro bowl, and that "overrated" rb had the most tds in a single season when he was in his prime. I guess AP is "overrated" also because he plays behind a good line.

Re: 2003 Vs 2009 Redskins
Nice post I guess I never looked at it that way. I remember when Spurrier was coach but I wasn't a Redskin fan then so i never paid attention to his era but you have a point. Spurrier & Zorn might be able to be good coaches just as well as Shanahan & Belicheat. No doubt the Redskins have bad ownership b/c it shouldn't take anybody 10 years to understand what is going wrong actually I really think it's common sense IMO.

Re: 2003 Vs 2009 Redskins
The sad thing , Ramsey/Wuerfel/Mathews while playing musical chairs threw almost twice as my TD's 23 ,than we did with < JC > last year 13. Atleast Cleveland and Oakland are worse than us so far .

Re: 2003 Vs 2009 Redskins
Prior to the start of the season there were many positive views and everyone seemed genuinely excited about the prospect of a winning season, some even predicted as many as ten wins.
Watching the pre-season games we saw the wheels gradually begin falling off the wagon and with no spares available, it's been all downhill ever since. I don't know if we're about to embark on a record, but so far this season every team we've payed, at the time we played them had not won a game. The author says he would like to see someone take control of the team and build it from the ground up, well what a welcomed addition that would be. During the course of this 2-3 start, just think about how much we've found wrong with a team many thought would win ten games. Without a doubt the team needs fixing in more than one area and it's not going to be fixed overnight. |

If you remember though, Spurrier's protection schemes -- if you could call them that -- were atrocious. They were young and healthy, but I recall false start problems and Patrick Ramsey running for his life.

Well the QB has to take chances and JC never takes chances, any QB that has little Int's also has little TD's.

Re: 2003 Vs 2009 Redskins
Nice examples, guys who have the same number of playoff wins, 0. JC will be starting somewhere next year, but probably not here.

Re: 2003 Vs 2009 Redskins
If you only dial up 25 pass plays a game you'll only throw 25 passes that's on the play caller.

Re: 2003 Vs 2009 Redskins
Cutler is Legit, Romo well he's just avg I agree.. But JC won't start anywhere next year bro, unless it's Oak or Tb someone desperate. That's why Denver chose Orton over him
