Re: Would Dunta Robinson & Darren Sproles be 'business as usual'?
i'm not so much concerned about his age in of itself, but the fact that running backs typically have short NFL careers (most are declining by 30) and he's really really small running back, so that should shorten his career even more. if he's used in more than 10 plays a game, i can see him being essentially useless in 3 years.

I'll take 3 years of Sproles in his prime. That helps bridge the gap between the current corp of RB's and the next "franchise back" who shows up.

Re: Would Dunta Robinson & Darren Sproles be 'business as usual'?
^ The thing we all have to remember with a guy like sproles is he is not a Full time back. The guy isn't going to be pounding it up the miccle pay in and play out. He will get at a min 30% of his touches through the air. And when he is taking the ball from the qb he is out in space. MS could do some nice things with this guy.
We need CP/ Ganther to be the pounder and DS to be the change of pace.

I really hope we can do better than Ganther. He's very limited, a borderline #3 type to me.

Re: Would Dunta Robinson & Darren Sproles be 'business as usual'?
I hope he doesn't get crazy $$ from us. Not for a 3rd down/situational type of guy. It should be interesting to see how free agency plays out, because I don't see Allen tossing around money like Snyder used to.

The Broncos in 2001 set a team record payroll record with 102 million(maybe we broke it again). Shanahan will spend, and Allen was handcuffed by cheap owners.

Al Davis isn't what I would call cheap owner.

Re: Would Dunta Robinson & Darren Sproles be 'business as usual'?
And even when Allen was in Oakland, he wasn't making the decisions, so Oakland is really irrelevant.
I wish the NFL could do something about teams like Tampa though. Theyre so cheap its disgusting.

Re: Would Dunta Robinson & Darren Sproles be 'business as usual'?
i dont think sproles had a great year last year stat wise. didnt he avg 3.5 yds or something per carry. less than 700 yds?
imo id pass on sproles and look at chester taylor.

Re: Would Dunta Robinson & Darren Sproles be 'business as usual'?
As I've alluded to before they're not so much cheap as much as they are maxed out financially. For goodness sake they own and NFL franchise and the second most recognizable soccer franchise in the world in Manchester United with a 700 Million Euro debt.
However they should have strongly considered this situation before they bought Man U. If I were them I would sell the Buc's and focus on Man U.

Re: Would Dunta Robinson & Darren Sproles be 'business as usual'?
He had 343 yard rushing, 497 receiving, 1300 on kick returns, and 183 on punt returns. You don't think we could use 2323 all purpose yards?
