Wow - Pastabelly NOT ripping us!
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...len&id=2053829
• LaVar Arrington, Washington (games missed: 12): Even minus Arrington, who seemed at a recent mini-camp to be moving well following two knee surgeries, the Washington defense ranked No. 3 in the NFL in 2004. But imagine what creative coordinator Gregg Williams might be able to scheme up if he can unleash a healthy Arrington on the rest of the league in 2005. Williams has the right stuff, and the ingenuity, to make the petulant Arrington the player he is supposed to be. • OT Jon Jansen, Washington (games missed: 16): There were myriad reasons for the spotty play of the Redskins blocking unit in 2004, among them a poorly designed passing game, but the Achilles injury Jansen sustained in preseason was foremost. Jansen is a standout right tackle and, just as important, the conscience of the Washington line. His close buddy, quarterback Patrick Ramsey, will be a lot more secure if Jansen can return to his past form. Pretty good articles about both actually.

oh yeah. i read that article. it's pretty good actually. i wasn't that suprised, there aren't many bad things you can say about our defense. and our whole offensive line just collapsed when jansen went down.

Re: Wow - Pastabelly NOT ripping us!
I just hope our defensive line is able to work their magic for a second year. Griffin really turned it on after a few mediocre seasons, so it'll be interesting to see if he stays consistent and doesn't lapse into the "I had a good year so I can slack off now" syndrome he apparently suffered from in New York.
Something tells me we really could have used DE Chris Canty from UVA in the fourth round rather than taking one of the TWO fullbacks we drafted. Dallas got Canty instead. At 6'7" the least he could have done is given us some height and depth at the end position. While I have confidence that Gregg Williams will be able to squeeze the most out of the players we have, it just would have been nice to draft some young, promising talent along the D-line for some insurance. |

oh well. it's too late now. i guess we are just gonna stick with what we got. maybe one of gibb's minicamp players is a diamond in the rough.

Re: Wow - Pastabelly NOT ripping us!
true, it would be nice to have some young , talented back-ups for the d-line but in greg's system it seems like as long as the d-line can hold their own and not get blown off the line the lbs and the cbs will supply most of the pressure on the qb. it worked last year , my fingers are crossed that it will work again.

Re: Wow - Pastabelly NOT ripping us!
Has Williams ever really had a great defensive line? TN wasn't bad and Kearse was an animal under him, but didn't Buffalo revamp their line after he left?
Am I the only one not excited about Bowen coming back? It'll be nice to have him in the rotation but Lott/Clark played very well and aren't liabilities in the passing game.

Re: Wow - Pastabelly NOT ripping us!
Well, he did write that the Skins had "a poorly designed passing game" last year.....but I don't know if there's anyone that would really argue with that, even though it is kinda slamming Gibbs. Overall though, a pretty decent article....for a change!
