Re: Who do you want to start at QB?

BECK.

Hopefully Beck will win the job over Grossman, he seems much more mobile. Rex throws to the wrong team when he's pressured, or just misses wide open WRs like that horrible pass to Moss when he was one-on-one with Suggs last game.

I'd prefer to have Beck get his shot and be more comfortable with Grossman coming in as a backup. I think we'd be in better shape if we have to replace Beck with Rex than if Rex goes down/can't do the job and we have to bring in a backup without a resume.

Lets see what Beck can do and have an experienced backup on hand. Seems to be the better route to me.

Besides, Beck looks better anyways...he should win the job without any considerations on who would be the better backup...John just looks like the better starter, period.

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?

I've got 2 QB's that can run my offense and thru this Preseason they are neck and neck in most eyes. One is a vet with 8 years behind him while the other is a 30 something who looks just as good with only a 4 game experence from 07.

If they are playing equal now, to me, that means the unknown is playing at the Vets level without his game time. Thus with game experence he can get better while the vet has proven to have reached his high water mark already!

I'm choosing the new guy because no one knows yet what his level of play can be imvho!

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?

I understood Shanahan is going to wait the very last minute to let people know who his starter is, but is it possible that tonight's game would give us some hints?

I don't really care who starts to be honest. Its kinda like asking me which brand of oatmeal I prefer. It doesn't really matter to me but it will hold me over until I can make it to the store and get some kind of high-sodium pork product.

average QB A vs average QB B isn't nearly as exciting as the local sports media is making it out to be (or, rather, isn't a story worth nearly as much press as it's been given).
thats how i feel to. neither qb has made a clear cut case. what i do find interesting though is that it seems to me that both qbs bring a different style and approach. beck is more conservative, perhaps a better decision maker while grossman has the potential to put up 350 yds .... for me it really just comes down to who can run the system the best.

i really cant even say which one id want to start 9/11.

Riggo is reporting on facebook that his "inside source" is telling him Shanahan has made his decision, and he is going with Beck to start the season opener.

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?

I said Beck, hoping he has an undiscovered upside!!! I have been impressed w/ his 1) accuracy 2) mobility. It's a solid foundation to start with. That said I know there's been a lot of "build up" in his own mind to winning the starting job. Seems like the guy puts tons of pressure on himself. Shanny Co would be wise to give Beck time to settle down, which could be a couple/few games. Worst case scenario is he starts w/ some jitters and gets yanked (too soon) IMO.

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?

By virtue that Beck is playing and and Rex is not in this meaningless game.....REX IS THE STARTER?

Grossman is the starting QB. I guarantee it.

If you start Beck over Grossman you lose Grossman mentally.

He is a better QB than Beck right now. Everyone knows it. He knows it.

This is his last best chance to become a legit QB.

Beck is lucky to be on an NFL roster. Dude has done nothing in his career.

He would be thrilled to be the #3 QB on any NFL team. SURE he wants to be the man, but he will be happy to wait in line a little longer for his turn.

It's Rex's time to get that so called "last best shot."

You can easily bench Grossman and go with Beck during the year if things go South.

On the other hand Grossman will be furious if he doesn't get this opportunity going into his third year in this system.

Grossman looked good against the Steelers and the Ravens.

Beck looked terribly average against the backup Bucs.

Case closed.

Re: Grossman is the starting QB. I guarantee it.

Grossman also had the starting RB/WR in the game against Pitt for the first half when Pitt took their 1st team out after the 1st drive.

I don't really think anything is guaranteed at this moment. Beck and Grossman have both had their share of ups/downs, or did you forget about Grossman's 2nd half against the Colts?

I think Beck is still the starter for week 1. So I guess we will wait and see.. Beck is going to have ups/downs this season. Nobody is predicting him to come in and be the next Tom Brady or Romo. If Grossman is the starter, we all know what we get from him.

Beck is 30 he ain't waiting any longer and I'm not so sure Rex is better IMO. I think both are honestly about the same, 2 guys that won't be here very long.
