Re: Kudos to RG III
This was one of those dream scenarios for RG3's first start. Stayed poised and didnt try to do it all by himself. Showed that he has not only a strong arm, but can make accurate passes. He made the right calls when it came to staying in the pocket or running. And even on scrambles, had the sense about him to pull up and pass even though some yards were there for him to get running. I also like the fact that he is fast enough to get out of the pocket and put some space between him and the defenders to allow him to do that in the first place. Not sure we have seen that since... Gannon?
While I have never been a fan of Kyle, I have to give him props as well. Quick wide receiver screens slowed down the Saints D in the first drive. He called plays that let RG3 do things that forced their D to respect what he could do. It slowed down their pass rush a good amount, even though they were getting there late and got some hits on RG3. He also never abandoned the rushing game, which he did pretty much every game last year. The Oline played pretty good, but I believe part of that was the scheme. If the Saints D could have concentrated on a Rex/Beck/McNabb offense, they would of had 5 or more sacks imo. Now we need RGjr (and his significant other) to keep RG3's head from getting big. Really like that disciplined military parents has his ear. |

Re: Kudos to RG III
And that's going to go a long ways! RGIII carries out his fakes all the way, and I'm like you, I wasn't sure who had the ball a few times.

Re: Kudos to RG III
One question, will we have to blatant horrible missed holding calls all year???? Is this part of the new QB rules?

Love the throw to Paulson to ice the game. That was a major league fastball - the kid's arm is as strong as advertised, and his poise with the game on the line was very impressive. This is gonna be a fun ride for the next 10+ years.

Re: Kudos to RG III
2 plays that made me say outloud we finally have a motherf***ing quarterback (and there are many to chose from). One was the 88 yard touchdown - something that I haven't seen, what it seems like in a lifetime. And the other, when RGIII started to roll left, and under heavy pressure - fired off a bullet near the right sideline to complete it to Fred Davis for 26 yards.

Re: Kudos to RG III
Hard to describe how awesome it is to see a Skins QB dominate like RGIII did yesterday. I watched the game with Saints fans at a party and there was too much going on to notice the details so I watched it again late last night on DVR, and Griffin is just amazing. The poise, arm, agility, quickness, speed, accuracy, and fakes were spectacular.
