Re: 2013 Free Agents
Or would you rather have Byrd from Buffalo who is 'better' in coverage?

Re: 2013 Free Agents
i like branch from oakland better than him, and i would like to draft a safety and take tony jefferson out of oklahoma, he plays very viciously and is always around the ball and good tackler. i really think just upgrading safety alone will make a big difference for us

And Yes you need to draft, but with no first rounder, it really limits what we can do and lets be honest, BA and MS have been getting good Free Agents for us the past couple of years, I don't see us stopping that trend. Tony Jefferson is a good safety, but I prefer you watch Matt Elam of Florida or Robert Lester of Alabama, both those guys are great and also always around the football. OU safeties are questionable. Who was the last OU who actually panned out. I don't think you can say Roy Williams was a great pro, because he was EXposed like not other after his 3rd year.

Re: 2013 Free Agents
So Talib goes to NE for a 4th rounder...the likely hood of them re-signing him depends obviously on his play and if he can not get into trouble.
More than likely, I think we can cross him off our FA list now..

Re: 2013 Free Agents
I'm glad we didn't give a 4th-rounder for Talib.
He's a ticking time bomb. Wasted talent. When on the field and behaving, he's a great player...but he can't stay out of trouble. Imagine him and Hall on the field...the fights they'd get in...the suspensions they'd rack up. He's not the answer. We need someone who can stay on the field and going forwward we need to be very careful with our draft picks. With no 1st-round pick next year, a 4th becomes more valuable to us. Talib is still serving a suspension and we've already taken our chance on a troubled player in Tanard Jackson and lost that roster spot and money. Lets not make that same mistake again, while giving up even more for him.

Re: 2013 Free Agents
I'll take Was Welker to move the chains and help that defense stay off the field. Then I would tunnel vision on the defense. Secondary especially and maybe a linebacker for depth with London fletcher tutelage or to start. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks would be nothing but CB and safety. I might even trade down if there is talented depth there and maybe get a 3rd down rush specialist. If we can find 3 gems in the secondary and Wes Welker. Lookout playoffs.

Re: 2013 Free Agents
Quote:
2012 = $4.553mil against cap, still counts $1.1mil in cap space this year if we cut him in 2012, but the remaining $3.4mil would count against us in 2013. Basically, we're keeping him and paying him this season to minimize the cap hit in the 2013 season that's missing another $18mil from Mara/Goodell. If we released him now, it would mean we have less to spend next offseason, so we're getting it out of the way now with a slim chance he could get on the field in 2012. No matter what we do with him, we still have to pay him the remaining $4.553 in guaranteed money...so we're doing it now and just getting this bad contract over with. The right decision. We need as much cap space as we can find next year, so cutting him now would hurt us a lot more than waiting in that plan.
