Cap space is not as abundant for us as people think. Remember, the following need to be considered for resigning (or replacement) this season:

- Cousins
- Knighton
- Gallette
- Will Compton

Plenty of others but they're not cap consequential.

Then next year we'd have to decide whether to resign or replace:

- Garcon
- Perry Riley
- Chris Baker
- Jordan Reed (big $)

So as we think about all of our cap space we have to consider that money needs to be set aside for those guys, and if we're not going pay them, then we have to figure out how we're going to replace them before we consider bringing in an Alex Mack.

It's this kind of long view that leads Scot McCloughan to conclude that the best plan is draft draft draft, and resign your own. Mack is not a fit.
