But we have Reed under contract for four more seasons, and Davis was just signed for three. So if you pick a stud TE in round one, he either sits in 3rd string for the majority of his rookie deal, or it puts big money on our bench. Just doesn't make any sense.

Again, Reed has never played a full season. There is no chance OJ Howard sits behind V Davis. They could play a lot of two TEs sets and actually run the ball on third and two.
I guess you would pass on Rob Gronkowski too.
