Ownership has all the power. Adams can demand a trade all he wants. But if they do not agree on an extension, he gets tagged. He can play under that tag this season. If they do not agree to an extension entering next season. He gets tagged again. If he refuses to play under the tag, he loses a year of accrued seasons. Remember when Cousins was seeking a trade in Washington? Didn't he get tagged?
Jets will let Adams trade happen when they get 2 first rounders for him. Dallas offered up a 1st and a 3rd rounder for Adams last summer. Jets balked.
You got to wonder if the Jets are regretting that considering who fell to Dallas at 17 in this years draft with that first round pick they offered up.

He still has two years left on his rookie deal, so they effectively control his rights for four years. Don't even have to worry about tagging him til '22
