Re: Sportsline Power Rankings
Pete,
I'm sure I'm your typical "angry Skins fan", but I just wanted to write you to find your rationale behind the snub of the Skins in your power rankings. I don't think anyone is doubting they did indeed spend and spend. But let's also remember they made the NFC divisional playoff game running solely on the legs of their all-pro running back. I just can't help myself in being a bit peeved that none of that was mentioned, it's all about how the Skins spent for unproven commodities. Sure, they're unproven, but did the Skins get WORSE? If they didn't get worse, did other teams (notably the other NFCE teams) get that much better? TO is not the solution for the Cowboys, he's a hired gun that may put you over the top if you're on the cusp of winning the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are not. The Eagles will most definitely be back in contention, but a healthy McNabb doesn't instantly make them that much better. Concentrating solely on the Redskins signings this year, Fauria is NOT a receiving threat, he was brought in specifically for blocking. Also, let's remember that Andre Carter posted 10+ sacks in his short career and we all know Williams has a knack for getting the most out of his defensive players. Looking at the areas the Redskins addressed in FA, there's NO WAY it can be said that they were improvements over the old crew from last year. Overpaid? Sure, but Taylor Jacobs, Jimmy Farris and others were invisible. This team will only go as far as Mark Brunell takes them, but I think it's being a bit shortsighted to say that overpaying is going to equal less wins. Sincerely, Ben Hartless Just sent that to Pete.
