Re: My 2006 TO Prediction
But to give it a bit of objectiveness, I'll give it a shot. Dallas has home field advantage this go around. That will help like usual. If Springs can stay healthy and not continue his decline (that some of have noticed) he'll be able to cover TO with no problem as long as Taylor doesn't bite on some gadget play (which I'm hoping he'll be ready for since Parcells uses it EVERY TIME THEY PLAY). Truthfully, I don't see the Cowboys running on the Skins at all. Every team pretty much had trouble running on the Skins. Whether or not TO "spreads out the field" the Skins have a pretty elite rushing defense.
If the Cowboys are going to win, it has to be through the air. Rogers better play the best ball of his life otherwise Glenn will eat him alive. Washington is an excellent coverage linebacker, so I see Witten being a non-factor. The Glenn vs. Rogers matchup is key. For Washington, I see them being able to run a bit better than the Cowboys. Portis is just flat-out a better back than Barber or Jones. I still don't think he'll go nuts, but it'll be efficient enough to open up the passing game. Provided Lloyd and Randle El live up to half the hype, they've gotten, I think one or both of them will make some key plays. Both teams need to win through the air. I don't know a lot about the Cowboys linebackers in coverage but both games, Cooley could get open and find holes, so I feel confident in that.
