Re: Cornelius Griffin: Do You Feel He's Not A Force Anymore?
There has been no bigger reason for the defensive turnaround than the play of the defensive line. They have been outstanding.
Their weaknesses are being masked potentially by the scheme, but more likely by the overall talent they are playing with. We aren't playing with a weak link on this defense. Carlos Rogers has had a GREAT 3 game stretch. Landry doesn't really look like a rookie at all. A smart offensive line and running scheme COULD exploit some weaknesses in the DL. Carter STILL takes himself out of a lot of plays. Daniels is playing well, but rarely are teams testing him. No one seems to run to our defensive left. It's not like our defensive line is invincible. However, since no one seems to know how to attack it, offenses spend most of their time getting attacked. Eventually, teams will figure this group out, but if the offensive line can get healthy before then, it won't matter if teams figure out they can run the ball on us. Expect New England to attack with the ground game early, but to get away from it before they figure anything out. Teams with a lot to lose tend to go back to what they are good at real quick even if they feel they have something when it isn't producing immediate results. Good thing they won't be able to throw on us.
