You could also turn that statement around, and read it from right to left.

We already have a defensive coordinator in place. While I understand the intrigue with Spagnuolo, and the SB win being his highlight of the moment, take a minute to look at the team defensive stats from the past season.

The Giants, Redskins and Cowboys finished the season ranked 7th, 8th and 9th respectively, and the stats of all three teams are strikingly simular. There's not enough differential in numbers to suggest the Giants defense was that much better than the Redskins. If we were to hire Spagnuolo strictly on his defensive prowess [the exception being the SB] then it's understood why such a strong case was made for the coordinator we already had in place in the name of one Gregg Williams.
