Dirtbag359's 5,034th Mock Draft
1st - Phillip Merling - DE - Clemson - Solid prospect, with the ability to play DT and DE. Reminds some scouts of Trevor Pryce, and if that is any indication then chances are he'll be able to develop into a pretty good pass rusher while still being productive against the run. I know I'm a hypocrite
![]() 2nd - Jordy Nelson - WR - Kansas State - I know most would consider this a reach but it stuns me how a guy with his production at a school that isn't Texas Tech falls to the 3rd round. Great Senior season, impressive week at the senior bowl, hard worker, tough, durable excellent character. His weaknesses are a lack of a second gear which is puzzling since he was reported to have run a 4.4 40 and even if thats not true 4.5 isn't bad for a reciever with his size. Apparently he also needs to improve his technique as a blocker. Have yet to hear that he was a product of a system at Kansas State. 3rd - Mike McGlynn - G - Pitt - Best versatile O-Line prospect durable (Very important for a team like ours), and is highly regarded as a run blocker, which will be key considering Zorn's 1,800 yards for Clinton prediction 3rd comp - DT - DeMario Pressley - Would prefer Dre Moore, but he's long gone at this point. Pressley is raw and the type of guy that the coaching staff probably believes they can turn around with the proper teaching. 5th - Marcus Griffin - FS - Texas - "Excellent tackler...Does a nice job against the run...Tough and strong...Active and aggressive ...Productive...Has a lot of special teams potential...Always around the action...Very smart...Hard worker...Great bloodlines...Excellent program pedigree." Plus if the front office is serious about Doughty then I believe it's prudent to look for a FS since Landry essentially serves as a backup SS. 6th - Dennis Dixon - QB - Oregon - Most productive college QB available at this point in the draft. I assume he ran a WCO in college given that he played at Oregon. And since the Front office insist on getting a college passer then one of the picks from the 3rd comp till this pick will probably be a QB. 7th - Joey Haynos - TE - Maryland - Huge local product who had decent production last year. 7th Comp - Andrew Crummy - G - Maryland - Solid Guard prospect that has been slown down by injuries. 7th Comp - Alvin Bowen - OLB - Iowa State - One of the most productive linebackers in College over the past two years. A little undersized but should at least be able to find a spot on special teams.
