The housing market had to come back to earth and thats been a big drag along with high gas prices. So I guess if your saying Bush is the reason for the economy then as president he gets blamed for such. I don't think the president has that much control over the economy but credit either goes with him or against him. If you look back over his 8 years its been good for about 6 of those years and that was after 9/11 and everyone saying that the economy would tank for along time. I also think that the media in and election year and are liberal have pumped this news to every house hold for the past year has had a big affect.
