I think, he just stopped using his vision, which was one of his best assets. He doesn't look to hit the hole and create plays down field. He just runs forward until he gets hit, and then doesn't really have the athleticism to make a play. The result is that he's only effective when the OL not only wins the battle up front, but dominates.

I think this change resulted from injuries he got, tried to re-create himself, and just got away from all the things that made him good. I'd be surprised if he ever had an effective season again.
