The team is not named after an American Indian coach of the team. In fact Charlie Casserly was just on WP Live on CSN saying the organization never really knew where the name came from.

Some Indian was at one of the first games against the Cowboys and as we kicked their a$$ he yeld out go Redskins and it caught on and before you knew it everyone was saying Hail to the Reskins. The rest is history.
