So I Watched Super Bowl 26 Last Night

I had to remind myself how this franchise used to be so great! A lot of things I noticed in that game. The offensive line, for one thing, was huge! Not just that they were wide loads, but they seemed to look like giants. None of them really looked very athletic, but just really big and strong! I also noticed how down to business the players were. Almost like robots in sort of a way. The whole team played as if they were all on the same page. The defense was extremely physical, and the guys coming off the bench were making plays just like the starters.

Joe Gibbs made adjustments to the offense on the second series of the game. While he stuck with his game plan, which was well balanced, he mixed things up. He rolled Rypien out to avoid the pressure coming up the middle. Gibbs called Running plays to the right side and to the left side. But most importantly, Rypien had three very good receivers to pass to, two who had big days...Art Monk and Gary Clark.

Wilbur Marshall could cover receivers as well as put pressure on the QB. Kurt Gouveia intercepted passes, as well as Darrell Green. All in all, Joe Gibbs had all of his players playing championship level football. And in large part due because his GM got him the right players he needed to build a championship team. You didn't even have to be there to know all of these guys played as a team. This is something I haven't seen out of the Redskins in years.

One feeling I got from watch that game (besides a feeling of sorrow that it will be along time to see the Redskins in the Super Bowl again) is that the franchise oozed of class, toughness, and togetherness like I've never seen since that point. Football seemed to have a different feeling back then.

Anyways, don't mean to post a ramble, no point thread other than how I wish this franchise could become THAT franchise again. And if it's possible for our current front office to turn this franchise into THAT franchise again. If you guys haven't picked up the DVD of the three Super Bowl wins, you MUST pick those up and watch them!
