I just find it almost funny how dumb so many people are on the causes of the housing / banking crisis. Joe Corzine = CEO Golman Sachs , R. Rubin CEO , Citi , Barney Frank, Frank Rains , Fannie Mae . Not sure why you brought up the subprime lending act as I don't recall them specifically saying this which is why I asked for a link. I'm quite well aware of when the banking deregulation took place, but I think you are off base on what he's talking about. The failed policies he's talking about is:

1) Cutting taxes for ultra rich
2) Increase military spending
3) Sustaining wars on foreign lands
4) Deregulating businesses and banks in general

However, lets look at the bill you are talking about. You do realize this bill wasn't brought forth by a democrat right? It was 3 Republicans that sponsored this bill.

Sen. Phil Gramm (R, Texas), Rep. Jim Leach (R, Iowa), and Rep. Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. (R, Virginia), the co-sponsors of the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act.

If you look, a vast majority of those opposed were democrats. So let's point that finger in the right direction. Thanks!
