Yeah I get that, and I'm right there with the people who are disappointed in the moves at safety. But people have to understand that this move takes up zero cap space and in no way prevents them from doing something else.

Pretty slim pickings left in the CB/DB FA pool. If anyone has thoughts on the remaining folks, please share. I wonder whether this becomes a draft priority or whether the team views this as something that cannot be fixed in 1 year and that we're focusing on other needs this year.

I understand they haven't much yet, but cap space still exists and the draft is yet to come.
For one thing, Bruce Allen made it clear that upgrading the secondary was a priority in FA. Then he accomplished next to nothing in that regard. We watched as numerous talented safeties and CB's signed with other teams.

Now, he's bringing back some of the same cast of characters who were so bad as a group last season. That is hardly encouraging.

As for the draft, just how many positions are we going to be able to address in the draft? Only one or two players we draft will be able to make much of a contribution in their rookie year. We drafted two safeties last year, so I'd rather not draft another safety this year.

More specific to Biggers, I don't like him because he is a human speed bump.

BTW, I'm not of a negative mindset about what the Skins are trying to do. But I do think that, up to this point, Bruce Allen has failed to get us the veteran leader we need at safety. Maybe we'll sign Ryan Clark as a stopgap at FS. That would help. I'm also hopeful that we'll get some help from Thomas, Crawford, and Minnefield this season.

Gruden said it best the other day. We weren't just one or two players away, we need quantity and depth. The prices those safeties got were not worth the holes we would have been forced to endure at other positions.

Just once I'd like to add a baller and a shot caller in the secondary

I wish we could get rogers and clark on 1-2 year deals. Between them and the youth drafted last year and some mid round picks this year I think it would do a lot to make the backend defense stable.

Me too. But I've made my peace with the idea that at least one more year's patience likely is required.

The good news is that it seems we can better mask the weak back end with a pass rush.

Re: Redskins Re-sign EJ Biggers

Anyone excited about any of these available FAs? I'm not seeing a lot of value there.
