Yes, this is bad news. Asking for more money, with not much room under cap means less likely to be here next year.. Still hopeful however, after all he's got a Redskins tattoo.. |

I find it interesting that he's asking for a one-year deal. I guess the Redskins see a lot of potential; but I don't blame Galette for seeking that one-year deal.

Re: Better days ahead. (Off season part 1 thread)
of course he wants a one year deal. he had a prove it deal last year and produced exactly 0 stats, which means his value right now is way down. he still won't be fully right when the season starts, but he'll be pretty close.
the skins aren't going to shovel money his way. he still has character concerns and he hasn't done anything for us on the field yet. I do think he can help us quite a bit, but if he wants to get too cute with this, the skins might just walk away. until the QB contract situation is dealt with, i'm pretty sure everything else (that isn't a great value buy) is sort of on hold. |

No way he is asking for 24, but franchise tags if he plays well (which he will) can bring u to that number real quick. |

change when they make cuts... (Goldson,Roberts+ Riley) adds about $15 million. There could be a lot more money with renegotiated contracts and other cuts. That is not counting cutting RGIII who will be close to the amount needed to sign KC |

I believe he's showed enough to merit a deal, but it is still a small sample size. |

It is a small sample size, but like everything in life you have to look at quality and quantity. His performance in that sample size was literally record breaking shit. I hate when people say well it was against weak teams. Ive been watching the NFC East for almost 40 years and there is no easy game. Ever. The best case scenario for money and our team is to give him a deal, and lock him up and see more of what we saw this year. There are never any sure things however id rather gamble on him paying off than somehow him going elsewhere after next year or the year after and paying off elsewhere. That would kill me. It would kill the team. |

Knighton: I don't get why I'm bouncing around - NFL.com
I submit it's because he can only play 1.5 plays in a row at full speed.

I remember seeing the ball being snapped while he was still only halfway down into his stance. Gotta work on that endurance. |

Cousins agrees to sign the tender. He can no longer negotiate with other teams. He is now on the roster on a one year deal worth a guaranteed $19.9M.

keep in mind a long term contract could count much less than $20 million towards the cap. FYI.... Alex Smith got a big signing bonus, with a low salary in the first year.... resulting in a cap hit of $4.6 million in the first year... then $14.6 in year 2..... it makes sense for KC from a tax standpoint Alex Smith Contract, Salary Cap Details & Breakdowns | Spotrac |
