Since there really isn't any reliable data on player concussions over the last 50 years, you have a wonderful world of denial built for yourself.

Simple question:
Can multiple concussions over a period of few years affect a player's physical abilities?

Yes, though as evidenced by years and years of boxing, those effects don't typically set in until much later in life, after the athlete has long passed his playing days. There is very little history, proportionally speaking, of players and boxers having their physical abilities compromised until they are in their 40s, 50s, and beyond.
