That may be the only way to go. I'd offer him 20x5 with some carefully tailored provisions, but I don't think he would take it. It will take us at least another year to get a good feel for whether a replacement is in the wings. Meantime, work like hell on the defense this OS and give careful thought to tagging KC again.

Also, cap room is not going to be an issue. So pay the guy and lock up the most important spot on the field, and let's move on to fixing the D.

It's not a black and white thing. To say that this loss shouldn't affect your opinion of him - even overall - is indifference to me.

... to refuse to look at this performance to evaluate him is, in a sense, a form of denial.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

The contract situation seemed to be distracting him the whole season.

I'll keep saying it. My solution will make everyone happy- sign Cousins to a long-term deal with an eye towards trading him if you find another qb that you think can take his place.
... what about this would make anyone unhappy? ... give or take or few little minor details

You're right, it's not black and white. That's why one game, win or lose, doesn't change my mind.

He had a bad game no doubt, but again, I'm looking at his 2 years as our starter.

9083 yards, 54 TDs vs 23 INTs, 17-14-1 record. Far more good than bad.

If there's someone else out there that can step in and put up equal or better numbers I'm all ears.

I'm a big fan of Trevor simien but I don't see Denver letting him go. That's the only guy I want other than Kirk. Those numbers are damm good without a defense and a RB.

It's not just one game. I'll say what is obvious, but the point of this- games like this far outweigh others.

Those numbers make sense and might have been around what he could have been signed for last year. Considering Brock Osweiler got $18 mil a year and so did Sam Bradford last year combined with who will be available next season I am afraid a lot of teams will wave way more than $100 mil in Kirk's face.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

[QUOTE=htownskinfan;1161139]LOL I am calm,I'm not one of the ones screaming dont resign him.And to say no chance Colt plays better is purely speculation on your part, just as it was on mine.I think everyone agrees Kirk did not play well yesterday.2 bad picks and no es-capability out of the pocket. To say Colt couldnt have come in and and did better than throwing 2 costly picks and only putting 10 points on the board is not unrealistic on my part.
But again, let me reiterate,I am not calling on Colt to be the starter.I do think Colt can handle the pressure of a big game better and to think he could have not done better yesterday is not unrealistic.[/QUOTE

What big game has Colt played in that proves your point?

Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

I was a Cousins supporter after leading last season's playoff berth, but the way he's handled his contract situation has rubbed me the wrong way. It seems this is more important to him than winning games and how the Redskins are doing. Yeah, get your money but stop acting like you're being disrespected because you're not being offered the $20 million that you think is fair. He should've just left that off the field.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

Everyone says that it's just business when asked about it directly, including him. Then stop taking it personal. And if anyone, he should be taking this out on Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen directly and behind closed doors.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

Cousins seems to have a big ego. He puts all his self worth in how big of a pay check he's getting. Money don't make the man. And if you feel disrespected on 5 years 100 million then you can take your crocodile tears somewhere else. Sorry you got drafted in the 4th round. Get over it. You still haven't won jack squat to deserve more than that.

I wonder if after the game SM walked up to Kirk and rubbed him on the head disrespectfully and screamed something in his face. Maybe something like nice pass asshole.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

I'd rather him say- the Redskins are my team and hopefully everything goes great with negotiations with my agent and the team because I want to be here. And I'd rather him say it genuinely but if it's not sincere, I'd take that too.
