Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
He has earned the right to compete for the job. But they need to also draft someone and start drafting a QB every year, like Bobby B use to do.
Heinike needs to live in the weight room and get his body stronger. But some guys ( Jordan Reed) are not built for the NFL and he may be one of those guys. As far as his performance you could not have asked for more. That was the best QBing we have seen since Cousins. |

He seems like a really good football player that might not have the measurables. Even if his ceiling is Colt McCoy, we desperately need a solid QB even as a back. |

How is everyone saying his ceiling is Colt McCoy. Based on five quarters it is clearly higher. Again im not saying he is the quarterback of the future but he might be. He has been fighting this doubt his whole career. Which is to be expected when you come out of Old Dominion. He has had two starts since being an undrafted fa. Two. One was awesome. He has earned the right to fight to be the starter. Not just a backup. Anyway time will tell but im rooting for this guy to stay healthy and be our quarterback going forward with more of a grasp of the system and more weapons around him including a run game. What i saw the other night was not a fluke. No way. |

Maybe Jeff Garcia. McCoy had the big college career and some really good Pro games. I think that is a respectable and likely comparison. It's time to stop putting Titos in your Kool-aid if you are thinking he is showing Drew Brees potential. Heinike has to earn that. Colt Brennan Version 2.0 |

McCoy had a big college career at Texas. Since when is ODU an nfl pipeline. Lol. Ive said numerous times he has to earn the starting job. Never compared him to a hall of famer. Lol. Im just betting on him being the guy at this point. Again time will tell. |

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
No one knows who the realistic options are at this point. Do we fall in love with Zach Wilson and trade up? Is a Stafford or Watson available for trade? Will Drew Brees or Jimmy G be released? Does Mac Jones or Trey Lance fall to #19? Do we pay Dak? Will Rodgers be traded?
Im hoping Stafford is available and reasonable ... or another vet becomes available bc of the shrinking cap situation. I do know one thing. Even if I thought Heinicke was a starting caliber QB, I still wouldnt trust him with all my preseason 1st team reps bc by week 2 or 3, hes out and youre playing your backup. Kid played great under the circumstances. While injuries can be random, we cant go another season playing 4 different QBs bc of injuries. |
