well, hindsight is 20/20 and the proof is in the results... it is kind of like what happened when spurrier assembled all those florida receivers and the consensus was that they were a bunch of stiffs. that is exactly what they proved out to be.
my point is simply that sometimes the prevailing wisdom is correct. the skins had a false optimism about the receiving corps. jacobs had never shown anything before that was anything close to proof that he could be an nfl receiver. thrash was found totally wanting by the eagles who were desperate for a number 1 or 2 receiver in years past. patten was the most expendable member of a new england receiving corps that looks better because of the excellence of tom brady. whom did they have that had proven he could be a reliable #2 receiver? no one.. that is exactly how it played out.
