Having been the other person sitting on that curbside next to Portis and Taylor when Boswell told Taylor he was going to write an article about him, and having spoken with Taylor myself, I can tell you that he really is a rather shy person, and that it seems like the more the media presses him, the more he draws up into his shell. It's simply a defense mechanism, and perhaps a little bit of youthful willfulness, and I think he's just anxious to get out on the field during an actual game and bring all this idle speculation to a screeching halt. That's where Taylor intends to make his statements. He's tried to make that clear repeatedly, but apparently, the media hasn't been listening. In Taylor's opinion, none of the other things that have happened this offseason should matter if he goes out on the field and makes good things happen. Yes, his actions have been rather unpredictable and inexplicable, but how many of us haven't behaved in the exact same manner at his age?

Taylor is a young man who is going to do things on his terms and on his schedule. If and when he feels like talking to the media, he will do it, and there's nothing anyone can do about that-- not Tom Boswell, not Dan Daly, not Joe Gibbs, not Gregg Williams, not Clinton Portis, not LaVar Arrington, and certainly not me. If the media wants Taylor to talk, they are going to have to play by his rules, like it or not. Writing negative articles about him and jumping to conclusions about his personality, his character and his agenda, is certainly not going to help. While the members of the media that Taylor has shunned point at him and accuse him of being a spoiled, immature athlere, they don't realize that they are behaving in just as spoiled and immature a manner. Let's get one thing straight: all of this Taylor-bashing is not about his playing ability, it's about Taylor not playing the game by the media's rules. Taylor pissed them off, and now they're pissing back. Very mature, objective and rational approach, huh?
