If Brunell had the letters R-A-M-S-E-Y on the back of his jersey and wasn't Gibbs' handpicked boy, he'd be a free agent by now. (BTW, No I am not trying to revive the Ramsey debate, I am just pointing out that Brunell is sucking big ass right now). |

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
I dont think anyone expects Campbell to light the world on fire, but I think everyone sees that we have much bigger problems right now and its not getting fixed. This team is going no where and its time for Campbell to take his licks and learn how to play QB so maybe we can be good next year.

I totally agree that the defense was a HUGE problem. I also don't think that switching QBs is going to dramatically change our team's fortunes. However, it's about time to admit that Brunell is cooked and it's time to start playing for the future.

I'd say the problems with Brunell and the defense are about even. He was making un-veteran-like mistakes towards the end of the game, while being focused on Moss who was triple covered numerous times. Somebody else said it, if a rookie would make the same mistakes Brunell is making, what's the difference? It's not like he's giving us veteran leadership to win when the game is on the line. Those were desperation heaves we saw in the 4th quarter. With the defense, we have what we have. The defensive line sucks, the secondary sucks and the linebackers are non-existant. Williams doesn't have anyone else he can replace. Gibbs on the other hand, has two options that he refuses to try. |

The problem with Brunell is this - he's suffering from the ole' Shane Matthews syndrome. Great for 1 and a half quarters and completely ineffective thereafter. His last 5 passes of the game were laughable. Almost 4 INT's in 5 passes. Dude sucks! I didn't check to see who let the Dartmouth kid come straight through and block Frost's punt. That guy better get a verbal bitchslap from the coaching staff. |

![]() But GM Joe refuses to admit that he has no clue when it comes to talent evaluation, the scary part though is he can't even evaluate established NFL talent. And so we wait and watch as GM Joe continues to try and drive a square peg through a round hole in Brunell to justify the very first move he made as coach, is Ramsey the second coming of Peyton Manning? Of coarse not, is he better than Pennnington? No. But he's probably every bit as good as Eli Manning especially if given a support group around him, [and with playing time he could have evolved into a much better QB] and he's better than anything we have right now. Not that it really matters, but we need a real QB regardless of who it may be and we don't have one. Here's the biggest problem with what Gibbs has done so far, as I said when we drafted Campbell, you do not give up what we gave up to sit him on the bench for 2 or maybe 3 years, what happens if Campbell doesn't see the field until next season and then we spend another year finding out he can't play? Or we find out he needs 3 years of playing time to really come of age? That's a real problem! Maybe we get lucky and he steps in and we never look back, but if he can't beat out Brunell at this point in both of thier careers than we just have problems upon problems. And before we start calling Saunders out lets remember he's a proven genious at O-coordinator everywhere he's been, so what is wrong with this picture? I will give you a hint it starts with B and ends with runell! |
