I agree that the 17M figure was way out of line. I don't think any other player would expect them to pony that money up.

BUT given the propensity to give big paydays and overpay for outside FA's, I believe that the players would expect them to make a pretty lucrative offer, even if it means overpaying, for one of their own.

FOR EXAMPLE: Okay, you're gonna trade picks and give big money to a guy like Lloyd who you thought could have a big impact. Well, Front Office, here is a guy who has demonstrated his impact on this team - we like him, we want him to stay. Are you gonna make an offer to him that is better than what you would give to an outside FA? Or is this one of those "when I say its a game, you say it's a business and vic versa" situations. Show us that by just being here WE are valuable.
