I have a hard time seeing a move like this fitting into our offseason philosophy.

I don't think it would happen. But, like Smootsmack just said, talk of such a move is unsettling.

briggs is looking too get payed alot. we need help up front with our d-line. i could see a trade if it was for a stud at DE or DT but we dont need a linebacker. or a guy looking to make the big money and never produce like we are used to as skins fans with our FA signings over the last couple years

yea i dont agree with it at all.... mcintosh is fine, marshall isnt bad either... but we need out 6th pick, or at least to trade down a few spots.. but we can go allll the way down to 31.. and then we have no other picks the 1st day? ... i would skip going to the draft party too.

my heart sank. this would be terrible. last i checked, briggs doesn't play DE or DT. getting a bit angry thinking about it.

don't get me wrong, briggs is great and a big upgrade over marshall, but we've got 3 starters and an untested rookie at LB, so giving him an AT type deal without addressing the DL seems a little backwards...

Angry is probably the best emotion on this deal. I swear if we pull this deal it will test the hearts and minds of many.

i actually think this would be a really good deal. briggs would be an upgrade over both washington and macintosh on the outside and we'd still have a first round pick, although much lower. we'd have awesome linebacker depth and would be able to rotate them. briggs is a pro bowl linebacker, this is a good deal if it happens IMO. this is a deep draft, there will be a good player at 31 and would upgrade the defense

I think this trade could be justified on draft day if we could find an impact D Lineman at 31, but I wouldn't gamble on that happening.

Briggs would be our best LB, but this is the type of move that has burned us bad in the past. A potentially (because we don't know how much of his production was simply a product of his situation) overrated linebacker and a non impact 31st pick for the 6th pick in the draft.

I don't like it at all.

If this has any truth it might not be so bad. Many drafts have DE Anderson falling to the end of the first round. If we get Briggs and Anderson I be for it but that would be a big if!

That's right! Briggs would be our best defensive player instantly! He's 26 years old and would be a Redskin for many years to come. We still have a first round pick to address the defensive line. Normally a Franchise tag would mean Redskins loose 2 first round picks! We come out of this totally ahead. Only reason we had a shot is Briggs is so unhappy with no long term deal from the Bears. He's made the pro bowl the last 2 years and only a 4 year vet. MAJOR UPGRADE FOR SKINS HERE!!

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?

This rumor can't be true, as it is stated. I could maybe understand if we got a 2nd AND 3rd round pick in addition but PLEASE tell me this is a joke if we are just swapping 1st round picks.

Thumbs up Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?

I think Briggs is amazin'... he was all over the place during the SB and would fit in well here but that means bye bye to Marshall or Rocky so Im on the fence ...

I like our current LBs, Washington is amazing and Rocky is an up and comer, and Marshall is alright. Squash this trade and get what the team needs, DE/DT.

if this were to go down (i hope it does) i think we'd have to try and sign ian scott, and maybe briggs could persuade us to do so since he is a former team mate
